It’s time to stock up on blank cover variants, as we welcome a new batch of comic creators and authors to our Melbourne (6-7 April) and Gold Coast (13-14 April) line-ups.
Known for his work on Ultimate Spider-Man, Patsy Walker: Hellcat, Runaways and more, Spanish artist David Lafuente leads as the first of our international comic creators, closely followed by Brisbane local, and the creator of fairytale horror comic Seven, Alisha Jade, who will also host a Banksia Masterclass for aspiring comic creators.
Masterclasses will run on Saturday at the convention – 6 April in Melbourne and 13 April on the Gold Coast, from 9am to 11:20am, equipping 30 young comic book enthusiasts in each city with the knowledge they need to kickstart their career. With tickets priced at $35 and are on sale now from Moshtix.
Comic book Supa-Stars Jon Sommariva (Star Wars Adventures, Marvel Action: Avengers, Batman/ TMNT Adventures) and Al Barrionuevo (Batman: Gotham Knights, Teen Titans, Storm) will also bring their artistic talents along this April.
For those who pick up the pencil for another reason; to write, DC legend Andrew Constant (Torn, Kid Phantom, The Demon: Hell is Earth), authors Katya de Becerra (What the Woods Keep) and Astrid Scholte (Four Dead Queens) will also be on hand to talk about all things literature.
The new comic creators and authors join a seriously packed line-up that already boasts the likes of Teen Wolf heartthrobs Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin, Australia’s own Eliza Taylor (The 100), Serbian actor Stefan Kapičić (Colossus from Deadpool), Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder (Blades of Glory, The Benchwarmers), Matt Ryan (Constantine, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Clive Standen (Vikings, Taken), and so many more.
