Jon Sommariva has enjoyed a long career as a comic book artist since 2002 with his fun, energetic and youthful style of drawing. His work has appeared in comics from all the major publishers, including DC Comics, Marvel, Image, IDW and Dark Horse. Jon has also worked as a concept artist and illustrator for Disney, Marvel, Insomniac, Upperdeck, Hasbro, and Nickelodeon.
Some titles Jon has illustrated include Rexodus, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amazing Adventures, Batman/TMNT Adventures, Star Wars Adventures, Marvel Action: Avengers, DCeased, and Harley Quinn. He also co-created Gemini which was published by Image Comics.
Jon recently collaborated with Tom Taylor to create the multi-award winning graphic novel, Neverlanders, which was published by Penguin Random House. The book won the highly prestigious CBCA children’s book of the year award for older readers in 2023.
Jon is currently working on multiple covers for various publishers along with book 2 of the Neverlanders series. Multiversus: Collision Detection – a massive Warner Bros/DC Comics crossover book based on the Multiversus game will launch September 2024. Jon provides cover art and interiors for all 6 issues.
Apart from drawing, Jon enjoys cooking, good food, watching and discussing movies, reading comics, and playing games.
He was born in Australia after his parents migrated from Spain and Chile, and currently resides in Canberra, Australia with his wife and 2 kids.
