What better way to celebrate Monday’s final season launch of Game of Thrones and the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming extravaganza than to combine the two by securing an exclusive Gold Coast only star from the series who’ll be appearing at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre this weekend, April 13th and 14th!
Ian Beattie starred as Ser Meryn Trant, a member of the Kingsguard under King Joffrey, with episodes sprinkling the first five seasons of the series. Like many characters **spoiler alert** he eventually met with a suitably grisly end. Aside from Game of Thrones he also appeared in Oliver Stone’s Alexander, Vikings, Tudors and opposite Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who amongst many other roles.
Of course, Beattie is just one of many stars appearing at the comic book, fantasy, sci-fi, anime and gaming celebration with other notables including Ian Somerhalder and Nathaniel Buzolic from Vampire Diaries, Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin from Teen Wolf, Overwatch voice-actors Lucie Pohl and Jonny Cruz, Eliza Taylor from The 100 plus writers of Spider-Man for Marvel Comics, Nick Spencer (Amazing Spider-Man) and Tom Taylor (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man).
There’s also a special focus on Mad Max as it celebrates its 40th Anniversary this very weekend with original cast members, Steve Bisley and Hugh Keys-Byrne not only attending but featuring as Guests of Honour for the Supanova Superhero Parade running through Broadbeach to the expo Sunday morning at 9am. Nathan Jones will also be joining Hugh Keays-Byrne who starred as his father in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Supanova really is an event not to be missed full of colour and costumes sprung forth from inspiration and imagination in celebrating the worlds of film and television, fantasy, comic books, anime, sci-fi, cartoons, books, gaming and collectables! And best of all it really is family friendly too with all kids 12 and under getting in free with a paying adult (no cap on the number kids with the paying adult).
Supanova is a celebration of fandom, where the worlds of film and television, fantasy, comic books, anime, sci-fi, cartoons, books, gaming and collectables comes to life! There’s something for everyone, including ‘cosplay’ (costume-role play), fan clubs, musical performances, creative master classes, celebrity Q&As, wrestling, tournaments, competitions and an event full of shopping possibilities.
