Lav Bodnaruk is an Australian / Serbian film director and screenwriter. His films are noted for their melodramatic elements, often based on psychological fictions. Lav’s directing style is uniquely characterised by his stylistic cinematography.
Lav migrated to Australia in ’96. Through his University film degree, he established his niche, exploring themes of identity struggle, culture, crime, and nihilism – whilst always pushing the envelope of censorship with his delicate yet striking visual aesthetics and high production values. His critically acclaimed work demonstrates a flare for performance-based narrative and strong characterisation.
In 2008, Lav was awarded an Australian Filmmaker of the Year award at Byron Bay International Film Festival, followed by Queensland Filmmaker of the Year in 2009 at GIFF, among many other domestic and international awards.
Lav is also an extremely sough-after TV commercial director.
Through his passion and understanding of Visual Effects, Lav has come to own a boutique Post Production House, Chop Shop Post.
