About Guest

It’s been 6 long years since the hit and run incident that put disgraced former detective Edmond Bloom in a wheelchair and killed his wife Juliette. With the killer never identified, Edmond spends his days pouring over clues under the care of his submissive 20-year-old daughter Charlotte whom he indirectly blames for the accident.

On a hot summer’s day, a broken and remorseful stranger appears claiming to be the driver of the car six years earlier, begging Edmond for forgiveness or punishment. Consumed by guilt, the stranger brings all the clues necessary to bring himself to justice including a necklace stolen from the dead body of Juliette, his number plates, and the whereabouts of the elusive vehicle involved. With the stranger surrendering himself, Edmond can now find the closure he needs by either turning him over to the police, forgiving him or simply shooting him dead.

None of these three choices seem to satisfy Edmond however, as during the six years since the accident, Edmond’s dream has not only been to see the killer brought to justice, but to catch him himself and bring him to justice. What a glorious achievement it would be if he could catch his wife’s killer from the confines of his wheelchair? Then people would respect him, then people might forgive him for the terrible things that he’s done.

As the day turns to night, Edmond realises that in his six years of researching the tragic accident, with endless clues, suspects, and theories on what happened, none match the actual perpetrator. He also realises that perhaps there is fourth choice available, a deal that the stranger might consider in exchange for the thing he wants the most, forgiveness. Everyone knows that forgiveness doesn’t change the past but perhaps there are other ways to do it? If Edmond and the stranger work together to plant the right clues in the right places then maybe Edmond can still catch him?

With the deal in place the stranger becomes a prisoner in Edmond’s home while they scheme a fictional history of how the stranger escaped that night and the right kinds of clues that will lead Edmond straight to him. Meanwhile Charlotte, the other prisoner in the house struggles with a different history, the real history and as Edmond’s plan spirals out of control, the past, the present and the imaginary become destined to collide with tragic consequences.
