Look no further than Supanova Comic Con & Gaming’s Showcase Australia! line-up in Sydney (19–21 June 2026) and Perth (27–28 June 2026) for proof that animation Down Under is thriving.
Shining a spotlight on local film, TV, and more, the June program is led by an exclusive Sydney panel from Flying Bark Productions, who will take Supa-Fans to the Upside Down as they share a behind-the-scenes look at their work on Netflix’s animated Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.
Also from the Sydney-based animation studio, Tales From Outer Suburbia will feature during Level Up on Friday, with series director Noel Cleary joined by others to unpack Australian animation in action.
With credits to their name that include Hazbin Hotel, Universal Basic Guys, and more, talent from Princess Bento Studio round out the animation frenzy in Sydney, after recently appearing in Melbourne.
The cast and crew of Indigenous Australian horror film It Will Find You will also return to Sydney, this time joined by star Kylah Day, to unpack their fresh take on a tried-and-true supernatural genre, while Bloody Legend’s Showcase panel will prove that sometimes “it takes one to find one”.
Supa-Fans in both Sydney and Perth will get an exciting look at Pickpockets, starring Tim Minchin and Zoe Terakes (Talk To Me), with writers, directors and actors D.C. Fairhurst and Lucy Green appearing at both events, joined by stars Matt Levett and Moon Ayomide in NSW.
Animation is also well represented on the West Coast, with a screening of award-winning short Trading Cards followed by a discussion with creators, while acclaimed stop-motion artist Ben Nixon bring his latest series, At Snail’s Place, to the event.
The Showcase Australia! line-up is rounded out by The Underneath and Skeleton Girls. A Kidnapped Society, both appearing in Perth.
