Online qualifiers will be held on March 16 and 23 and the top team from each will score flights and accommodation to take part in the live Grand Final at Supanova on April 6, while other notable players will be awarded a t-shirt.
The competition – which will consist of a series of ink-splatting 4v4 battles – is open to players of all experience, aged 13 and older in Australia and New Zealand, with the option to register solo or in teams of four.
Last year, Supanova Melbourne hosted the 2018 AUNZ Splatoon 2 Cup Grand Final, with the winning team, Yeah Nah, telling Nintendo it was a memorable event.
“From the build-up of excitement the day before when we flew in, receiving our team shirts, being up on stage for the panel and exchanging banter, to actually playing on the amazing stage in front of members of the community and public… The whole experience was just awesome,” Yeah Nah captain and “Splat Bomb connoisseur” Gabe said.
