What is Spookinova?

Spookinova is a devious blend of our Cosplay Odyssey, Cosplay Competition, and Cosplay Dash designed to give you the fright of a lifetime. Strut your stuff in your spooky best or give the audience the suspense of looking at a horror icon. Make Friday the 31st feel like Friday the 13th.

Here’s a quick rundown on what’s involved.

• Spookinova will run on Halloween afternoon – Friday, 31 October!
• No skits or performances but we encourage you to give the crowd a good scare.
• Solo or Group entries accepted.
• Groups are hard capped at a maximum of four (4) people.
• Five (5) lucky entrants will be randomly selected to win a double pass to a future Supanova Event of their choosing!
• Pre-registration encouraged, as spots will fill fast.
• Entrants are encouraged to submit a few dot points about their costume during online registration for our Cosplay MC to read while they’re posing on stage.
• Small number of reserve spots available on each day.

How do I sign up?

Please make sure you have read the Cosplay Showcase Rules & Regulations and Cosplay Guidelines & Weapons Policy  pages before completing the form below. If you don’t read them, you may not be able to enter the competition.

Registration Deadlines

Registration is slated to close at 11:59pm AEST on Wednesday, 29th October, but may close sooner if the competition is filled to capacity. Please note that once the pre-registration form closes, no further entries will be accepted online, and you will need to visit Cosplay HQ before 12:00pm on the day in order to add your name to the reserve list.

FAQ

1. What do I need to do before the competition?
   Fill in the form below, and check in at Cosplay HQ before 12PM on the day!
2. Where do I go for marshalling?
   Your will be told when and where to go when you check in. Please listen carefully and follow all instructions provided to you at marshalling.
3. What costumes can I wear?
   Anything that complies with our Cosplay Guidelines and is horror, or spooky themed is acceptable.
4. What about bought costumes?
   Unfortunately you won’t be eligible to participate in the new Cosplay Showcase. We prefer it if you make your costume yourself, or if a bought costume has been significantly altered. Buying individual items to create something unique is totally fine! Please speak to someone at Cosplay HQ when checking in if you’re unsure.
5. Will my weapons or props get confiscated?
   As long as your props comply with our Weapons Policy, you won’t run into any issues.
6. Can I do a performance?
   There are no performances in this competition, just walk on, strike some poses for our photographers, and walk off.
7. What if my costume is busted on the day?
   Supanova has a Cosplay Repair Station which can be found at Cosplay HQ. Our skilled team is able to assess and repair your costume, give you quality advice, and get you out and ready for your photo shoots and onto the stage for the competition.
