10 Australian Cosplayers Pushing The Boundaries

Written by Vanessa Agius - September 24, 2018Daniel Cribb

The cosplay community within Australia is on the rise and has evolved into something wonderful over the years. Cosplay not only provides fans with the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favourite characters but also to get creative with some twists and fresh takes. To get you inspired for The Supanova Cosplay Odyssey, here are ten Australian cosplayers who are pushing the boundaries.

Badge3d – Injustice 2 Superman

Melbourne-based cosplayer and propmaker Lucas has delivered some incredible cosplays over the years, including Deadpool, Deathstroke and Plastic Man. However, his cosplay of Superman Injustice 2 saw a fresh take on the beloved Man of Steel. His impressive skills as a propmaker excites cosplay fans for upcoming projects, which include future Injustice 2 creations!

Canary of Melbourne – Female Captain America

With Captain America celebrating his 100 birthday this year, it is only fitting to look back at the incredible work produced by Canary of Melbourne. Famous for her incredible Black Canary cosplay, Paige also shines in her Female Captain America cosplay which she debuted earlier this year at Supanova in Sydney after two years of hard work. It definitely paid off, Captain!

Flitterpuff – Star Wars/Ariel Crossover

With Star Wars entering the Disney family a few years back, it sparked the creative fans of both communities alike. Cosplayer Lissy, known as Flitterpuff, has been merging the two worlds in her Star Wars Ariel crossover cosplay. Her Mandalorian Bubble Princess features only the very best blaster and bubble gun, fit for any royal in battle.

Thrillhouse Threads – Bimbettes from Beauty & The Beast

Cosplay at conventions opens up an unlimited array of possibilities. Sometimes the greatest cosplays are the ones that are those rare appearances or those minor characters that everyone seems to love. A throwback to when Thrillhouse Threads and friends brought the hilarious Bimbettes and Gaston to life back in 2017.

Teena Titan Cosplay – Beauty Pageant Wonder Woman

Sometimes the most creative cosplays are those who think outside the box. Teena Titan Cosplay brought to life her Beauty Pageant Wonder Woman at this year’s Supanova. It hasn’t been the first time the cosplayer has put her twist on a beloved classic, casting back to her Steampunk Snow White at Melbourne Supanova.

If you’re going to wreak havoc, you might as well do it in style! Perth-based cosplayer Harls Lil Monster has showcased a variety of Harley Quinn cosplays at Supanova, but it was her Prom Queen Harley Quinn cosplay that was particularly impressive. Inspired by the recent Suicide Squad colours, this red and blue rendition into a fantastic ballgown would make anyone at a high school prom step back!
