1. General Behaviour and Ethics
• Treat everyone fairly without criticism regardless of gender, place of origin, colour, sexual orientation, religion, disability, political belief or economic status
• Display high personal and professional standards that will project a favourable image of Supanova. This includes refraining from public criticism of other volunteers, staff/management, vendors, patrons, and other people at Supanova
• As Supanova is a family-orientated/PG-rated event, the use of profane, insults/cursing sexual/explicit innuendos or otherwise offensive language is prohibited during the conduct of his/her duties as a volunteer
• Be polite and courteous to fellow volunteers and patrons
• Attend to your volunteer duties and shifts as directed. If your fellow team member does not show up, contact your supervisor and await further instructions
• During your shifts at Supanova, behave with honesty, reliably and with integrity
• Do not leave your post during your shift. If a situation develops that you cannot handle or you need to leave your section/area, contact your supervisor first
• Do not ask our guest for free Photos/Autographs/etc.
• Do not ask our Exhibitors for free stuff/discounts etc.
2. Appearance and Cosplay
• Supanova is a family show. As such, dress code at Supanova must be appropriate and PG-rated – no profane or insulting symbols, images or wording that will offend other volunteers or patrons.
• Whilst on shift, all volunteers must wear their uniform at all times. The uniform consists of the current tour of Supanova’s t-shirt and volunteer ID badge. Your break time is the only time you are allowed to remove your Supanova uniform.
• Maintain high personal hygiene at all times; including cleanliness of Supanova uniform
• Volunteers are allowed to cosplay at the event; however, only when you are off shift and abide by Supanova’s Weapon Policy. As Supanova is a family orientated event, all cosplay must be appropriate and PG rated. Check with your supervisor if you are unsure.
3. Violence, Harassment and Bullying
• Supanova volunteers have the right to work in an environment free from violence, harassment (includes all type of unsolicited/sexual harassment) bullying as well as vilification.
• Harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, victimisation and vilification are behaviours that are not consistent with the values of Supanova and are therefore unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
• Treat everyone at the event with respect and courtesy
• If you feel you are being intimidated or bullied, or witness bullying, please discuss this with your manager. If it is your manager that is involved, please discuss this with Human Resources
4. Intellectual Property, Disclosure of Information and Public Comment
• All information covered in trainings, briefings, handouts and during the Supanova event, belongs to Supanova. This includes Supanova related designs and logos. Information can be given out at the discretion of Supanova Management and distributed via official channels
• You must not disclose, directly or indirectly (including social media/networking sites such as Facebook, X formerly known as Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, blogs, news articles, etc.), any information that is deemed sensitive during the Supanova event, any other Supanova related event, and when the Supanova event concludes. This also includes confidential information relating to the scope of Supanova, their patrons/customers, special guests, volunteers, etc.
• If you are approached by general public and media for sensitive information (e.g. information not on the official Supanova website, provided to you via training/briefings, etc), do not disclose or provide information and refer them on to Supanova Management
5. Drugs, Alcohol and Smoke-Free Environment
• Supanova supports and enforces a zero tolerance to illicit drugs and alcohol during the event and on event premises. Volunteers must advise Human Resources and/or Management on any prescribed drugs related to your current medical condition that could affect your performance during the event
• Smoking is not permitted on event grounds other than specifically designated smoking areas provided by the venue. Smoking is also prohibited at all times; even if you are working in an outdoor area. During your break, smoking is allowed only in designated smoking areas provided by the venue. All cigarette butts and ash must be disposed of in an appropriate receptacle

Lost Children

• Get down to their eye level
• Speak calmly to them
• Introduce yourself and explain that you’re there to help (you are a Supa-Hero after all)
• Ask them for their name
• DO NOT PICK THEM UP
• Always ask permission before holding their hand, they are allowed to say no. if this is the case just get them to walk in front of you.

What should you do with lost children?

Take them to the Info Desk. We have a procedure in place to make sure we have followed our duty of care and the volunteers and crew at the desk are briefed on this procedure. Always take lost children to the info desk so this procedure can be completed, even if you find their parents along the way.

Accessibility Awareness

1. Duty to Yourself
• Make sure you take care of yourself. Know your limits and communicate them where needed.
• Make sure you stay hydrated.
• If you have any medical conditions, please make sure you do whatever required to take care of yourself. Bring your meds if applicable and let your supervisor know what breaks you might need in advance where possible.
• Get plenty of rest throughout the weekend when possible.
2. Duty to Others
• We look after everyone at Supanova so make sure you are keeping an eye on those around you.
• If you see anyone who needs assistance (if you are capable) please reach out and offer to help.
• On the flip side of this, If you require assistance please make sure you ask.
3. Duty to the Space
• Keep an eye out for any hazards and raise them with your supervisor if it is not something you can rectify easily.
• For spills and slip hazards, please reach out to one of the FES team on Slack and let them know exactly where the spill is. If you are able to stay near the spill and direct people around it that is Supa-Helpful!

• Wear flat and enclosed footwear
• Wear a High-Vis vest
• Follow all directions from the Bump In team, as well as all signage.

Do You Lift?

Practice Proper Lifting

• If you are required to lift things please make sure to practice proper lifting technique.
• Ensure you Do Not bend at the back, always at the knees.
• Don't turn while lifting and if you can get a friend to help, four hands are better than two.

1. Supanova Contracted Security
• Supanova’s Security team will be responsible for event access, ticketing, and general monitoring within the event.
2. Venue Security and Staff Points of Contact
• These teams look after the building and facilities including the coordination of any major safety issues such as evacuations.
