Australia is set to welcome a huge animation studio from some of the industry’s best.
It’s been announced, this week, that US animation studio Bento Box Entertainment and local production powerhouse Princess Pictures have joined forces to open Princess Bento Studio in Victoria, a globally-focused animation house.
Founded by Scott Greenberg and Joel Kuwahara (producers of The Simpsons and King of the Hill), LA and Atlanta-based Bento Box Entertainment is the studio behind animated classics such as Bob’s Burgers.
The partnership with Princess Pictures, which was founded by producer Laura Waters in 2003 and has delivered recent animation hits such as Yolo: Crystal Fantasy and Koala Man, will create 150 full-time technical and creative jobs in Victoria.
“We are proud to partner with our close friends at Princess Pictures to set up this new animation studio in Victoria,” Bento Box Entertainment Co-Founder Scott Greenberg said.
“Melbourne is home to a vibrant creative community, one of the best in the world, and we are excited to start working with the many talented animators, production and support staff in the region on a slate of exciting animation projects.”
Other popular work from Bento Box Entertainment includes current Netflix hit Paradise PD and fan favourite Brickleberry, among many other projects.
It’s expected the new studio will work on local and international projects.
