Zombies, giant spiders and incredible action headline the Showcase Australia! line-up at Supanova #97 (22-23 June) in Sydney, and Supanova #98 (29-30 June) in Perth!
The talent-packed program, which features some of country’s best filmmakers and actors alongside pioneers in animation and gaming, is led by upcoming horror Sting at Sydnova, ahead of its cinematic release this July. Fans can also go in the draw to win a double in-season pass to see the film anywhere in the country, simply complete and submit the competition entry form for your chance to win (T&Cs apply)!
The Sting panel will include rising talent and the film’s star Alyla Browne (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Sonic the Hedgehog 3) and producer Jamie Hilton, who will give Supa-Fans a taste of what expect from the latest offering from Kiah Roache-Turner, before doing a brief signing directly after the panel.
With Supanova set to host a number of favourites from the Mad Max franchise this June, it’s only fitting that filmmaker, actor and voice talent Bren Foster shares his new film, Life After Fighting, during Sydnova. The Saturday exclusive guest is known for his role as Max in the beloved Mad Max video game as well as movies such as The Last Ship.
Deerstalker Pictures roll back into Sydnova with hit D&D-inspired fantasy comedy web series 1 For All. Their panel will feature stars Eva Devore and Fall Cosplay, as well as newcomers and content creators Pat Mandziy and ZacSpeaksGiant. Make sure to swing by their booth and get a selfie or signed poster too!
After treating fans to a preview of The Phantom game at Melbnova back in April, director Ash Nicholls brings another sneak peek of the title to Supa-Fans in Sydney, joined this time by writer Matt Kyme. Attendees can also get an exclusive look at Ascending Inferno, “the rage game from hell”, on the Gaming Stage.
From gaming to animation, Flying Bark Productions’ Sarah Harper (2D Creative Director) and Christian Barkel (Head of 2D Animation) will show the work that goes into bringing the shows you love to life! Harper and Barkel have worked on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Glitch Techs, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, LEGO: Monkie Kid and more.
Rounding out Sydney’s action-packed Showcase Australia! talent is ECHO 8, with actor, director and producer Maria Tran heading up an exciting panel that unpacks the Asian-Australian action film made in Western Sydney.
Over in Perth, the zombie apocalypse is in fine hands, as acclaimed filmmaker Zak Hilditch makes his return to the stage to chat all things genre filmmaking after recently wrapping production on We Bury the Dead, a WA-shot horror starring Star Wars icon Daisy Ridley.
The cast and crew of Alien fan film No Man’s Land, described as “Battlefield meets Aliens“, will share a behind-the-scenes look at the action-adventure sci-fi that went viral, while charming animated short Bird Drone, award-winning claymation Chomp and magical flick Raising Thunder complete the line-up.
