If you needed any more proof that our local filmmakers and actors are some of the best in the world, look no further than Supanova Comic Con & Gaming’s talent-packed Showcase Australia! line-up for November.
Returning for Supanova’s penultimate 99th show in Adelaide (2-3 November) and 100th three-day extravaganza in Brisbane (8-10 November), the program will once again showcase groundbreaking live-action, animation and gaming.
Hop to horror and stop by The Red’s stand in Brisbane, which will also see the creative team behind the intense flick sit on a panel to discuss all things Rippy, a giant zombie kangaroo who terrorises a remote Australian town in the new film, set for release on October 31.
Speaking of zombies, world-class filmmaker Zak Hilditch brings his latest production We Bury the Dead, a WA-shot horror starring Star Wars icon Daisy Ridley, to Supanova in Adelaide with a panel on Saturday, joined by producer Kelvin Munro. The film will have its world premiere at Adelaide Film Festival the previous night.
Supanova in Adelaide will also hear from the team behind Power Rangers Mighty Force, made in South Australia! James O’Connor (Narrative), Jennifer Cheng (Animation), Jonathan Munro (2D Art) and Declan Boyd (Tech Art) will take part in a panel to discuss the mobile game.
Back to Brisbane and Supa-Star Lincoln Lewis will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his upcoming film, Hagar’s Hut, joined by fellow cast members Jemmason Power, Michael Caffery and Zarlia Chisholm.
After giving Supa-Fans a first look at his heart-pounding new thriller Primitive War back in April, Aussie cult filmmaker Luke Sparke, director of Occupation: Rainfall starring Temuera Morrison, Red Billabong, and Bring Him To Me, will return to Supanova in Brisbane to chat more about his “biggest and best film yet” as well as one-shot horror Scurry.
Rounding out Brisbane, Like A Photon Creative will celebrate their epic Tales from Sanctuary City universe, which encompasses six animated feature films – including Combat Wombat, The Wishmas Tree, The Lost Tiger and more – alongside spin-off series, two games, and ten picture books where our anthropomorphic, walking and talking animal characters live.
Supanova’s ‘Level Up’ Career Extravaganza on Friday, 8 November in Brisbane will also feature a smartphone filmmaking panel in collaboration with SF3.
The Showcase Australia! talent joins previously announced Supa-Star guests such as Anthony Daniels (C-3PO in Star Wars), Adam Savage (MythBusters, Adam Savage’s Tested, Industrial Light & Magic), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Martin Kove (Cobra Kai, The Karate Kid Trilogy), Patricia Summersett (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom), Lenore Zann (X-Men: The Animated Series) and more!
