Talk about Return of the King! All new film and literary stars have just been announced for next month’s Supanova in Adelaide (11-12 December 2021), leading with Australian cinema icon David Wenham!
After delighting fans in Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast earlier this year, Adelaideans will now have the chance to meet the Lord of the Rings Supa-Star themselves. Perhaps best known for his portrayal of Faramir in the Academy Award-winning trilogy, Wenham is one of the country’s most beloved entertainers, starring in Zack Snyder’s epic 300, as well as the Baz Luhrmann classic, Moulin Rouge!.
From page-to-screen adaptations to the wordsmiths at the source, Supanova is also set to host some of Australia’s most acclaimed authors – one of whom has their own book-to-TV show in the works! The award-winning author of The Salvation series, currently in development by Aquarius Films and Anonymous Content, Amanda Bridgeman is set to return after appearing at Supanova in Brisbane earlier this month.
Bridgeman is joined by the “Lord of the Genre”, New York Times bestselling author Sean Williams, whose credits are almost too numerable to count. Having written everything from official Star Wars novels to children’s literature, Williams may be best known for his recent Twinmaker series, or his Troubletwisters collaboration with Supanova alumnus Garth Nix.
Not to be outdone on impressive titles, “Australia’s master of literary darkness” a.k.a. Alan Baxter will also bring his petrifying page-turners to next month’s South Australian event. Author of Devouring Dark and The Roo, Baxter’s latest terrifying collection, The Gulp, is expected to receive a sequel early in the new year.
From outback fiction to a Supa-Star who was born there, Stormblood author Jeremy Szal is set to make the trek – just in time for readers to get their hands on his second book in The Common trilogy, Blindspace, scheduled for publication on 25 November. Finally, Jo Spurrier rounds out Adelaide’s literary legends. Writer of the Children of the Black Sun series, Spurrier received a coveted Aurealis Award shortlisting for A Curse of Ash and Embers, the first installment in her most recent fantasy saga, Tales of the Blackbone Witches.
