Season’s greetings, Supa-Fans! The holidays have come early for Queenslanders and Victorians, as Santa makes his first stop at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, delivering the first wave of celebrity guest announcements for Supanova 2023 – Gold Coast (15-16 April) and Melbourne (22-23 April)!
Battlestar Galactica’s Kara “Starbuck” Thrace is set to fulfill her special destiny, as Supa-Star Katee Sackhoff leads the convention’s film and TV line-up for April. Attending for the first time since 2011, the sci-fi fave has since gone on to capture the hearts of Star Wars fans as the voice of Bo-Katan in Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a role she most recently reprised for the hit live-action series, The Mandalorian.
Joining Sackhoff is fellow Rebels and Clone Wars alumnus Phil LaMarr, making his debut appearance with the event. Thrilling audiences both on camera and from behind the mic for over thirty years, LaMarr has lent his voice to Justice League’s Green Lantern, Futurama’s Hermes Conrad, as well as the titular hero in Samurai Jack, amongst countless others. He can also be seen onscreen as Marvin in Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-winning classic Pulp Fiction.
After delighting fans in Sydney and Perth earlier this year, Supernatural’s Mark Sheppard can officially say he’s attended every Supanova city – at least once he touches down on the Gold Coast and in Melbourne! Best known for his devilish depiction of the King of Hell, Crowley, Sheppard has most recently portrayed Willoughby Kipling in DC’s Doom Patrol, and Hagan in the 2022 series Walker: Independence.
Saving “the very best” for last (like no one ever was), Pokémon voice actor Veronica Taylor will also return for Supanova’s first shows of the New Year. With hundreds of episodes under her Pokéball-adorned belt as the voice of Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, Taylor is otherwise known for her roles as April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as Sailor Pluto in both the original Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal.
…And this is just the first wave of announcements for Supanova 2023! With plenty more international and homegrown Supa-Stars still to come, Gold Coast and Melbourne Supa-Fans are already in for an incredible show when Supanova Comic Con & Gaming blasts into town, next April. Admission Tickets, Autograph Tokens and Photo-Ops are expected to go on sale early next year, closer to the events. For all the latest news and information, stay tuned to Supanova’s social media channels.
