
Supanova 2021 – Melbourne will set the scene for local screen, this weekend, with a shark thriller, comedy D&D series, Star Wars fan film and more to feature from May 22-23 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
Supanova Comic Con & Gaming’s Australian Film Showcase will shine a spotlight on Aussie-made film and TV, with Q&A panels and signings confirmed for some of the country’s best established and emerging filmmakers.
Returning to Supanova after appearing on the Gold Coast last month, horror anthology series Deadhouse Dark, which recently premiered via streaming service Shudder, will offer up director, writer and producer Enzo Tedeschi alongside co-producer Rachele Wiggins.
The horror continues with the return of Aussie acting favourites John Jarratt and Lincoln Lewis who will take a deep dive into The Possessed, a new and original take on the exorcism genre based on Australia’s Charlie X, better known as the “Accidental Exorcist”.
The team behind shark thriller Great White will also come aboard once more, with producer Michael Robertson and actor Tim Kano sharing an exclusive behind the scenes look at the upcoming film.
With season three premiering this month, YouTube series 1 for All will unite comedy and D&D fans when stars Kendall Drury, Eva Devore, Forgeling and Fall Cosplay take to the Supanova stage, while the driving force behind the series, Elliot Ryan, Goldie Soetianto and Vincent Power, host a separate YouTube & Indie Filmmaking panel.
Making out of this world fan films, director and writer Richard de Carvalh will take Supa-Fans on a journey to a galaxy far, far away with A Blaster in the Right Hands: A Star Wars Story, joined by various cast and crew, rounding out Supanova’s Australian Film Showcase in Melbourne.
These emerging creators take to the stage alongside Hollywood heavyweights Miranda Otto, David Wenham, Radha Mitchell and more! With a virtual appearance from legendary Director Zack Snyder on Saturday to promote his new film, Netflix’s Army of the Dead, and a Sunday Q&A with the creator of Bluey, Joe Brumm, and the voice of Bandit, David McCormack, there’s something for Film and TV fans of all ages at Supanova!
