Franchise anniversaries are the best kind, and if you’re a Street Fighter fan, 2018 is an especially awesome year.
Capcom are celebrating 30 years of the most iconic 2D arcade fighter of all time in style with the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and a special booth at Supanova Sydney (June 15-17).
The new anniversary package includes 12 Street Fighter games: the original Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.
For one thing, online modes have been added to Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike, so expect a lot of players trying to master Daigo’s perfect block string, and a lot of happy Chun-Li players.
If you’re interested in behind-the-scenes content, this collection has got you covered on that too, with its Museum Mode, featuring “never before seen concept art,” “little known facts,” and an “interactive timeline” of the series. If you do want to dive deep into the history of one of gaming’s most important franchises, this is a worthy addition to your gaming shelf.
You like bangin’ character themes? It has those too, with 30 years worth of great beats in the Music Player!
So, if you’re a fan of the new games but haven’t got around to playing the old ones yet, or you’re a long-time fan who wants to relive the highlights and consolidate your collection on one console, this package is for you.
You can try it out for yourself at Supanova Sydney, where Capcom will be holding a Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection competition; the winner of which will take home a custom Street Fighter arcade stand.
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is available now on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC. You can purchase it from EB Games or JB Hi-Fi.
