The Supa-Stars are aligning once more, as Supanova Comic Con & Gaming descends on the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, this weekend!
Legends of the big and small screen including Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba Fett, Aquaman), Katie Leung (Harry Potter series, Arcane), Nicholas Hammond (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Sound of Music), John Noble (The Lord of The Rings, Star Trek: Prodigy), Josh Lawson (Mortal Kombat, House of Lies), Emilie de Ravin (Once Upon A Time, Lost) and more will take to the stage throughout the event, but Supa-Star celebs are just a fraction of what’s on offer at Supanova on the Gold Coast!
Here’s just a taste of the Supa-Activities fans can experience across the weekend at Goldnova.
Immerse Yourself in Your Favourite Fandoms
Whether it’s wizards or space wizards, there’s something for everyone at Supanova on the Gold Coast, this weekend!
After meeting Supa-Star Katie Leung, who rose to pop culture stardom in her role as Cho Chang, the first love interest of the titular hero in the Harry Potter film series, why not head over to the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore stand to enjoy exclusive photo-ops that will make you feel like you just stepped out of Hogwarts!
Star Wars fans are also in for a treat, with none other than Boba Fett himself, Temuera Morrison, ready to collect the bounty on Gold Coast Supa-Fans! He’ll be attending alongside voice actor Ben Prendergast, who portrayed General Hux in Star Wars Resistance; a role he reprised for The Star Wars LEGO Holiday Special, while also assuming the mantle of fan-favourite Darth Maul.
Supa-Star artists Mark Raats and Adam Nichols are also set to appear, both of whom have impressive legacies within the Star Wars fandom. Raats’ art resides within the personal collection of George Lucas, having famously created official poster imagery for SOLO – A Star Wars Story, The Rise of Skywalker, and more. An award-winning concept designer and art director, Nichols is perhaps best known for his work on hit video games Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Clone Wars: The Republic Heroes. Be sure to visit them both in The Alley!
Finally, round out your Supa Star Wars weekend with some hands-on training at the Sons of Obiwan Saber Academy! Located at stand 1001 and happening all weekend, trust us: you’ll know it when you see it!

There’s More To Do At Cosplay HQ
From photo-ops to emergency costume repair, Cosplay HQ is your one-stop shop for everything cosplay at Supanova! Proudly sponsored by Singer, who’ll have their signature sewing machines available to try out at their neighbouring stand, head to Cosplay HQ to check-in or register for the Supanova Cosplay Showcase, running in the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday. While online pre-registration for the Cosplay Showcase has already closed, there will be a limited number of reserve spaces to sign-up in person on the day. Whether you’ve been working on something awesome over the last 12 months, or simply have an old favourite you’ve been wanting to dust off, make Cosplay HQ your first stop of the day to secure your place!
Of course, you don’t have to be on stage to enjoy Goldnova’s Cosplay Showcase. In addition to the dozens of incredible costumers set to strut on stage, audiences will also take in the musical stylings of rock violinist KATEI. Having released his debut album in Japan in 2009 under the major record label Victor Entertainment Japan, KATEI has since gone on to travel the world as a headline act on international cruise ships and has most recently performed sold out sessions of Fever’s Candlelight: The Best of Anime Soundtracks concerts. You definitely won’t want to miss it!
Setting the Stage for Local Screen
You’ve seen the films, now meet the filmmaker! Luke Sparke, director of Occupation: Rainfall, joins us as part of our Australian Film Showcase! Sparke has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, from his days on the set of The Pacific, to his most recent feature film, Occupation: Rainfall, starring fellow Supa-Star Temuera Morrison, Ken Jeong, Daniel Gillies and Jason Isaacs. The timing couldn’t be better with recent news that Occupation: Rainfall 2 and Occupation: Rainfall 3 are currently in pre-production. Go behind the scenes of this blockbuster franchise and see some exclusive first-look images of Rainfall Chapter 2, only on Saturday at Supanova on the Gold Coast!
The directional debut from Aussie actor Martin Copping (Call of Duty: Vanguard, Rainbow Six: Siege, Zombie Hunter), The Dunes is a local production garnering industry buzz across the globe, claiming a slew of awards and nominations in recent months, and Executive Producer Adrian Powers will share insight into the compelling psychological thriller with Supa-Fans. The film follows Nicholas Rice (Copping), a renowned journalist for the Los Angeles Times who returns to his hometown of ‘The Dunes’ to investigate the disappearance of the tenant in his childhood home. Whilst there, a mysterious figure from his past re-emerges and threatens his entire existence.
And finally, for those looking to get their foot in the door of Australia’s burgeoning screen and gaming scene, the state’s peak screen body, Screen Queensland, will be hosting a panel with content Jed Dawson (Games and SQHub Director) and Joseph Meldrum (Program Lead, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Content) sharing tips on how to break into the industry. A must-see for aspiring creators!
This only just scratches the surface of the awesome activities on offer this weekend at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
