
This past weekend, Disney+ celebrated its second anniversary by launching its first annual Disney+ Day. Jam packed full of new content, special announcements and sneak peeks; the streaming service offered its subscribers an exclusive first-look at some of the most highly anticipated entertainment projects on the planet.
So, let’s dive in and take a look at some of the biggest, and coolest, reveals from the day.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Star Wars fans have been chomping at the bit to get their first official look at the new spin-off series which will see both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their respective roles of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Scheduled to hit the streamer in 2022, a new sneak peek offered fans a glimpse at concept art where Obi-Wan and his former apprentice “have another swing at each other” on what appears to be the volcanic planet of Mustafar where the pair had their last encounter.
Willow
Original Willow star Warwick Davis introduced the new cast with whom he will appear alongside in an original series which will serve as a sequel to the classic 1988 fantasy film.
Marvel
Marvel Studios had an absolute treasure trove of new reveals throughout the event, which included first looks at the upcoming Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight series, as well as a peek at at Samuel L. Jackson’s return as Nick Fury in the Secret Invasion series.
Fans of the original ’90s animated X-Men were ecstatic to learn that the series is being revived with many of the original voice cast looking to reprise their roles. Disney+ tweeted, “We’ve missed you, too. See you in 2023 with all-new episodes,” along with:
Bring us title treatments, title treatments of Spider-Man! The MCU’s version of Spider-Man is getting his own animated series, charting his early years prior to him meeting Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Freshman Year. The reveal comes alongside the announcement of a Marvel Zombies animated series, after their successful introduction in What If…? season one, as well as Kathryn Hahn’s return to her WandaVision role of Agatha Harkness in a new series, Agatha: House of Harkness.
Big Hero 6
Everyone’s favourite personal health-care companion from Big Hero 6 is headlining his own animated series in Baymax!
Predator
The latest film in the Predator series got an official title, Prey, and is set 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation. It will premiere internationally on Disney+ next year.
Ice Age
Simon Pegg is set to reprise his role as Buck Wild for The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild streaming on January 28.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy are reuniting as the Sanderson sisters for a sequel to the fan-favourite 1993 film Hocus Pocus, set 29 years after the events of the first film.
Cars
Owen Wilson will return to voice Lightning McQueen in a new animated series, Cars: On the Road.
The Spiderwick Chronicles
The best-selling series of fantasy novels The Spiderwick Chronicles is coming to the streamer in a new live-action series.

Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers
Big Mouth’s John Mulaney and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg are teaming up to voice a reboot of the classic Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers in a new original movie.

Disenchanted
Amy Adams and Partick Dempsey are reuniting for a sequel to their 2007 musical comedy Enchanted. Disenchanted hits Disney+ next year.

Cheaper by the Dozen
Scrubs’ Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union are teaming up for a reboot of the Steve Martin film Cheaper by the Dozen, which sees the pair as parents of twelve children.
