DC
DC has found its new Blue Beetle. Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña has been signed to tackle the role of Jamie Reyes in his own solo film aimed for streaming release on the HBO Max platform.
The upcoming Batgirl film starring Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon appears to be set in the main DCEU continuity, with J.K. Simmons reportedly in negotiations to reprise his Batman V Superman and Justice League role of Commissioner Gordon.
HBO Max has also started work on a solo Black Canary film with Birds of Prey star Jurnee Smollett set to reprise her role of Dinah Lance. The script is set to be penned by Lovecraft County’s Misha Green.
In a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel shown at CinemaCon for next year’s The Batman, Robert Pattinson suggests that his caped crusader will be “radically different” from any other portrayals of Batman audiences have seen before. He also suggests that Batman’s rage will be a key feature of his character, and that “all the fights seem very personal”.
The CW’s Batwoman is continuing its foray into Gotham City’s rogues gallery with Agent Carter star Bridget Regan announced as Dr. Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy in a recurring role for the upcoming third season.
Marvel
It’s finally here. After months of speculation the official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has dropped and almost broke the internet in the process. Breaking the record for the most-viewed trailer of all time, Spidey’s latest outing reveals Doc Ock’s return and also hints at Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.
Not the only MCU trailer to drop this month, Marvel Studios also released a new trailer for Eternals, which explains why the group were absent during the events of Infinity War and Endgame.
Hawkeye star Alaqua Cox, who is set to play Echo, a superhero who is deaf, has recently shared a casting call announcement for her own Disney+ spinoff show, calling for two new actresses fluent in American Sign Language.
Anthony Mackie has officially finally signed on to return as Sam Wilson who will now helm Captain America 4. While his return probably comes as no surprise, it does confirm that work on the sequel is officially underway and Kevin Feige has revealed that he already has a release date in mind.
Shifting away from the MCU, Sony’s interconnected Spider-Man universe which includes Venom and Morbius has had an official name change. Once referred to as “Sony Picture’s Universe of Marvel Characters”, it has now been officially retitled as “Sony’s Spider-Man Universe”.
Cobra Kai
Ahead of its season four debut, Netflix has officially renewed Cobra Kai for a fifth season. Season four is set to hit Netflix in December.

Jurassic World
A recent Jurassic World: Dominion sizzle reel shown at this year’s CinemaCon has teased the reunion of Jurassic Park’s original trio, Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Director Colin Trevorrow describes the film as “a celebration of the franchise” and that “it concludes a story that Stephen Spielberg started in 1993”.
Star Wars
With the first season of The Bad Batch officially wrapped up, Lucasfilm has announced a second season will return in 2022.
The Rogue One prequel series Andor has reportedly wrapped filming ahead of its own 2022 release. Original Rogue One star Diego Luna is set to reprise his role as Rebel spy Cassian Andor.
After months of unconfirmed rumours, reports are that Lucasfilm will indeed be featuring Star Wars: Rebels character Sabine Wren in the upcoming Ahsoka series and efforts to begin filling the role have already commenced.
Wednesday
Netflix’s upcoming Addams Family show, Wednesday, has found its Gomez and Morticia Addams. Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to play Morticia, while Narco’s Luis Guzman is set to tackle the role of Gomez.
The Boys
The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has teased the upcoming spin-off series focused on the G-Men (a parody of the X-Men), is “coming along really great”.
The Kings Man
After many reschedules and delays from it’s intended November 2019 release, Matthew Vaughn’s prequel The King’s Man announced it’s new release date of December 22 with a violent new red-band trailer.
Beverly Hills Cop
Eddie Murphy is rolling out all his old classic roles once more, this time jumping back into the role of Detective Axel Foley for Beverly Hills Cop 4. Filming is reportedly set to begin shortly, with Netflix picking up the bill.
The Walking Dead
A new teaser for the 11th and final season of The Walking Dead hints that a zombie cure might be on the way.

The Matrix
New footage from The Matrix 4 shown at CinemaCon reveals that Keanu Reeves’ Neo has been reinserted into the Matrix and has no memory of the events portrayed in the previous films. The film’s official title has also been confirmed: The Matrix: Resurrections.
