UPDATE 04/10/2023: Sadly, Katee Sackhoff will be unable to appear in-person at our upcoming Adelaide and Brisbane events due to ongoing family illness. She will instead be offering a virtual Q&A panel on the Saturday in both cities. Panel schedules will be included in each city’s event guide, released closer to the conventions.
UPDATE 27/09/2023: Due to an exciting new film role, David Wenham is unfortunately no longer able to join us in Adelaide and Brisbane, this November. He sends his apologies, and we look forward to hosting David again when he is next able to attend!
Prepare for an otherworldly experience as Supanova Comic Con & Gaming descends upon Adelaide (4-5 November) and Brisbane (11-12 November) with an incredible lineup of Supa-Stars aboard! Brace yourselves for an intergalactic adventure like no other!
Captaining Supanova’s November line-up is a phenomenal actress who’s no stranger to leading sci-fi franchises. Supanova is thrilled to welcome Katee Sackhoff (now appearing virtually only) as planned, after her necessary postponement earlier this year. From her first major role as the bold reimagining of Battlestar Galactica’s Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, to her most recent charge as Star Wars’ Bo Katan, Sackhoff has popped up all over the pop-culture sphere, featuring in The Flash, Riddick, two Batman animated films, and more.
But the action doesn’t stop there, as the legendary martial artist Mark Dacascos joins the battle, known for his roles in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. among many others, including The Chairman of Iron Chef America!
Through space and time comes another international sci-fi legend; Doctor Who’s Frazer Hines, otherwise known as Jamie McCrimmon, companion to the Second Doctor. Appearing in 113 episodes from 1966 – 1969, Hines earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running companion on the BBC hit.
Now that’s what we’re Tolkien about! Supanova is also set to host a heap of homegrown heavy hitters, leading with Hollywood favourite David Wenham. Having recently starred as Hank Snow in Baz Luhrmann’s Academy Award-nominated biopic, Elvis, genre fans may know Wenham best from his role as Faramir, brother of Boromir, in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The Steward of Gondor isn’t the only Supa-Star making the journey from Middle-earth. Stephen Hunter a.k.a. Bombur the Dwarf will attend exclusively in Brisbane, bringing with him tales of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy. Also, set to return to both cities is local legend Lincoln Lewis, alongside his The Possessed co-star John Jarratt, signing on for the Adelaide leg of the tour.
For comic book enthusiasts, international artist Dan Parent will make his debut appearance at the event. Renowned for his incredible work on Archie Comics, Parent is the creator of Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in the Archie universe, whose ongoing title received the prestigious GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book in 2013.
Finally, from behind the mic come some of the most iconic voices the industry has to offer! First-time Supa-Star Colleen O’Shaughnessey has starred in everything from Sonic the Hedgehog to Digimon, while fellow anime VAs Sarah Natochenny and Eric Stuart have lent their voices to hundreds of episodes of Pokémon, starring as Ash Ketchum, and Brock and James respectively across the series’ run. Rounding out Supanova’s first wave of Supa-Star celebs, Ben Prendergast returns to talk God of War: Ragnarok and Apex Legends with all his Supa-Fans in Adelaide and Brisbane.
Admission Tickets are expected to go on sale this month, with Autograph Tokens and Photo-Ops to follow closer to the events. In the meantime, mark your calendars, and stay tuned to Supanova’s social media channels for all the latest updates.
