The new trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising dropped at New York Comic-Con across the weekend and promises epic things from the sci-fi sequel.
The title alone tells you the Battle of the Breach wasn’t the last of the Kaiju threat, and this new teaser (which you could honestly watch on repeat for hours) showcases a jaw dropping all-our war between a new generation of Jaeger pilots and monsters.
Ten years from the initial battle, it’s fitting that the son of Pan Pacific Defense Corps Marshal Stacker Pentecost, Jake (Star Wars’ John Boyega), leads the next crusade to stop the apocalypse, mentored by his adopted sister and hero of the first film, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi).
With stunning visual effects, new gadgets, perfect casting (you’ll also see Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day) and a balanced tone all present in the new trailer, it’s looking like Pacific Rim: Uprising will be a strong contender for best film next year.
They’ve taken the best parts of the beloved first installment and given them some serious upgrades, much like the new Jaegers artillery that’ll give you chills.
The highly anticipated follow-up to Guillermo del Toro‘s 2013 masterpiece will hit cinemas March 22, 2018.
