Unbeknownst to audiences that the rumors were true, CBS announced filming of The Twilight Zone has commenced. The reboot of the popular 1960s television show places Jordan Peele (Get Out) in the role that Rod Sterling once held. The Twilight Zone is set to premiere in 2019.
Jon Favreau’s live action Star Wars television show has reportedly cast Pedro Pascal in a central lead role. Known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Narcos, it appears Pascal will become an asset to the Star Wars Universe. On that note, the series has also reportedly hired directors Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars, Rebels) and Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World) who are expected to helm a couple of the episodes.
Speaking of, Favreau recently took to Instagram to reveal the series’ title: The Mandalorian.
Leading us into the future, Netflix has announced that it will soon allow viewers to choose the endings to some of their favourite TV shows. Starting with Black Mirror, the streaming service will bring a ‘choose your own adventure’ style experience to the living room.
According to a poster, it is confirmed that Star Trek Discovery will return to Netflix in January 2019. The poster features the iconic Starfleet insignia with the tagline “Discover the next adventure”. The exact date is unknown, but expected to premiere mid January.
The new trailer for DC’s Titans show is packed full of Batman references, but news has emerged that it will not be limited to U.S. streaming services, bringing the show to audiences down under via Netflix.
There was a new tidbit of news this week from Lucasfilm’s other major franchise Indiana Jones. Producer Frank Marshall during a press day for new film The Other Side of the Wind, confirmed with ComingSoon.Net that the fifth outing will be more globe-trotting than its previous entry, returning to the form of the original trilogy. He also confirmed that there was a “writer’s room” for the film being headed by Solo screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan.
The first look at David Harbour as Hellboy broke out this week. The film is set for an April 2019 release.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has uploaded a new trailer building up hype and opening the door to a variety of Spidey characters including Miles, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir and Peni Parker.
Ryan Reynolds via Twitter has hinted at a Deadpool Christmas movie of sorts posting up a photo of Deadpool in a Santa hat telling a bedtime story to Fred Savage ala The Princess Bride (Savage had played the grandson in the film). 20th Century Fox has announced that the film will be released on December 21st and haven’t given out a title.

Action star legend Sylvester Stallone posted up on Instagram a sneak peek of the Rambo 5 film set, with Stallone himself saddled up all cowboy style, evoking a western theme. Rambo will be taking on a Mexican drug cartel in this latest outing, with an expected 2019 release date.
Rumours are flying that Ralph Fiennes will star alongside Harris Dickinson in the new Kingsman film. According to the Daily Mail, the third film will be a prequel that will explore the organisation’s origins during World War 1 and is set for a November 2019 release.
Leaked gameplay from a supposed Harry Potter video game has found its way online, since being taken down by Warner Bros. The game looked to be set in a 19th century wizarding world, with a 5th year Hogwarts student being the main character. No official release has been mentioned, but it is only a matter of time.
“Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru” – Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is now available on Playstation 4. Using the Dragon Engine and developed by the team behind the Yakuza Franchise, Lost Paradise sees Kenshiro’s wife Yuria kidnapped, leading him on a trail of brutal vengeance to get her back.
My Hero Academia has been announced for a fourth season however, stay tuned as a date hasn’t been revealed just yet.
Persona 5 The Animation took viewers on a surprise turn in it’s finale, leaving viewers and fans on a cliffhanger as the series played out one of the game’s “Bad Endings”. However, it’s been announced that a special titled Dark Sun will air at the end of 2018. Will the Phantom Thieves get justice? We’ll have to wait just a little longer. Perhaps we should go to sleep.

Finishing up in Japan back in 2016, it’s time for the final showdown between Ichigo and Yhwach to finally come to English readers in Vol 74. (No Spoilers please!)

The upcoming Justice League/Aquaman crossover event will feature variant covers of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman from the soon to be released theatrical adaptation of the King of Atlantis. The 48-page one-shot, titled Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth #1 by James Tynion IV and Howard Porter, features depicitons of Momoa’s Arthur Curry and Amber Heard’s Mera and will hit shelves on October 31.
Comic book artist and co-creator of Judge Dredd, Carlos Ezquerra, has passed away. Ezquerra was a frequent contributor to 2000 AD and a close collaborator of Garth Ennis, for whom he illustrated for at DC and Vertigo. Ezquerra was 70 years old.
Dark Horse Comics have announced a comic book adaptation of the James Cameron mega blockbuster Avatar. The six-issue limited series, Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path, will hit shelves on January 16 next year and Dark Horse have just released the first glimpse of the cover by Doug Wheatley which was unveiled at CBR.com. The series will be written by Sherri L. Smith with art by Jan Duursema, ink by Dan Parsons and color by Wes Dzioba. The story will focus on warrior Tsu’tey from the first film.
Dark Horse have also announced two collaboartions with video game properties. Teaming up with Blizzard entertainment, the publishing house have announced a Starcraft: Soldiers series due in January 2019. And then teaming up with Mojang and Microsoft Studios, Dark Horse Comics will develop a Minecraft graphic novel.
