With Sir Patrick Stewart returning to the captain’s chair, we were treated to a sneak peek into production with photo of the icon sitting amongst the series writers. When the photo was uploaded, James McAvoy (known for playing the younger Charles Xavier) offered his assistance, commenting, “Need a flashback guy???? Just saying… I’ve got previous experience and will work for autographs”. The new series will air on the CBS All Access streaming service, however we’re uncertain of where Australian audiences can view it for the meantime.
The announcement of Andrew Lincolns departure from The Walking Dead left fans divided, however the actor may be returning to the series through a different medium. Lincoln revealed to EW that he hasn’t finished with the show, and will return to the set during season 9 to shadow a director, so that he can helm his own episode in season 10. He will be the third actor from The Walking Dead universe to direct, following in the footsteps of Colman Domingo and Michael Cudlitz.
Filming for season 2 of Marvel’s Runaways has officially wrapped, with more information about the show to be revealed at New York Comic Con in October. The cast of the show has used social media to interact with their fans, giving them a glimpse of what we are yet to see. Season 2 premieres in late December.
Although Game of Thrones is about to unveil its final season, fans will soon be able to immerse themselves beyond the screen. HBO revealed to The Wrap that it intends to open up filming locations to the public, including sets for Winterfell, Castle Black and King’s Landing.
New images of the CW’s Legends of Tomorrow fourth season reveal John Constantine in a major role. Matt Ryan joined the main cast after the cancellation of Constantine, so these promo images shouldn’t come as a surprise.
The latest trailer for Daredevil season 2 brings Matt Murdock back from the dead, whilst also releasing Wilson Fisk from prison. The show will return to Netflix in mid October, sure to settle some scores following the fate of Daredevil in The Defenders.
The Child’s Play remake has released its first look at the doll horror icon Chucky from the new film. Directed by Lars Klevberg, it’s the first Chucky film that will have no involvement from his creator, Don Mancini.
Continuing the spooky vibe, photos have been released on set of IT Chapter 2 with Bill Hader (Pennywise) laughing it up with his co-stars.
Speaking of creepy clowns, the internet has been lit with new Joker on set photos, and even a video showing Joaquin Phoenix in the clown makeup. Halloween 2019 is going to be full of creepy clown laughter.
While we’re on the subject of Joker, the script for Joker vs Harley Quinn has been completed by Bad Santa writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. In an interview with Metro US, whilst the duo weren’t sure where in the production queue the film was placed they did say, “everybody loved it.”
Until then, Margot Robbie’s next outing as Harley Quinn seems to point towards Birds of Prey, for which Warner Bros has announced a release date of February 7, 2020. Variety announced that Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be joining her as Black Canary and Huntress respectively.
A final trailer has been unleashed ahead of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’s November release, revealing according to speculation a human Nagini. Character posters were also unveiled coinciding with the trailer.
Apparently an old well-loved habit is making a comeback. Whoopi Goldberg confirmed that a Sister Act 3 is in the works. In an interview on Good Morning Britain, Goldberg explained that Disney will be taking the film in a new direction.
The star-studded voice cast of Kingdom Hearts 3 has been revealed, which boasts returning actors in their respective roles. The cast includes Haley Joel Osment (Sora), Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck), and Bill Farmer (Goofy) but invites many more into the spotlight. Players will soon hear Josh Gad (Olaf), Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), Zachary Levi (Flynn Rider), John Ratzenberger (Hamm) and Wallace Shawn (Rex) in gameplay. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released in January 2019.
The since cancelled Stranger Things video game has been teased online, with concept art giving an insight to the adaptation of the series. Telltale games looked to provide players with a gritty first person perspective of the horror, so while the future of the game remains shelved we can only sit back and admire what could have been.
Macross has a new Macross Delta movie announced this week. Little has been revealed at this point aside from a key visual of the film.

Iconic Batman artist Norm Breyfogle has passed away. The legendary illustrator defined the ‘90s look of the Caped Crusader in comic-book form. Breyfogle is widely known for redefining Robin, when he helped introduce the world to Tim Drake. He was 58 years old.
Boom! Studios will be bringing Lev Grossman’s The Magicians to a shelf near you in comicbook form. Boom! also just acquired the comic-book rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Daredevil writer Charles Seoul will bid farewell to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen with the upcoming ‘Death of Daredevil’ arc to be the scribe’s last issue with the character.
IDW have announced a Rocketeer Reborn series. The new five-issue mini-series will hit stands in December.
