The Supa-Stars are aligning, as Supanova Comic Con & Gaming prepares to take over the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, this weekend!
Local legends from the big and small screen, including Tammin Sursok (Pretty Little Liars, Home and Away, Hannah Montana), Mortal Kombat’s Nathan Jones and Daniel Nelson, Black Sails actor Luke Arnold, Todd Lasance (Spartacus, The Vampire Diaries, The Flash) and more, will feature throughout the event, but Supa-Star celebs just scratch the surface of what’s on offer!
Here’s just a taste of the Supa-Activities fans can experience across the weekend at Supanova in Brisbane.
Fan experiences, Photo-ops & more
Marvel fans won’t want to miss an incredible activation celebrating the Studio’s all-new blockbuster Eternals, in cinemas now! With awesome photo-ops and exclusive giveaways happening throughout the weekend, this is an absolute MUST at Supanova in Brisbane!
Meanwhile, Tolkienites can celebrate Peter Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring in style thanks to the Brisbane Tolkien Fellowship, who will transform Brisbane into Middle-earth to mark the 20th anniversary of the iconic film. They’ll have new Hobbity products as well as old favourites, a charity raffle with four great ‘Hobbit’ prizes, two photo booths, as well as a model Hobbit Hole (and that means comfort)!
“He’s in a ’46 Ford. We’re in a DeLorean. He’d rip through us like we were tin foil.” It’s time to make like Marty McFly and go Back to the Future (or, more precisely, 1955). Pose alongside replicas of two of pop culture’s most famous vehicles: the DeLorean time machine and Biff Tannen’s ’46 Ford!
Sci-fi fans will also have the chance to check out the Doctor Who Fan Zone, featuring a recreation of the famous 50th-anniversary episode The Day of the Doctor, as well as an awesome model display featuring everything from Star Wars to Gundam!
Level up with Free-to-Play Gaming
Gaming fans will be able to put their skills to the test on titles such as Call of Duty at the Free-to-Play Gaming area, complete with state-of-the-art equipment, competitions and prizes, thanks to Allied Gaming PCs, Bluemouth and Videopro!
If you’ve been considering leveling up your gaming setup, look no further than ZQRacing, who will have premium gaming chairs, ergonomically designed and built to last, onsite to test.
Cosplay time, all the time
Halloween might be over, but don’t pack away your costumes just yet! Cosplay is a major attraction at any Supanova event, with cosplayers of all fandoms and experience levels embodying their favourite characters across the weekend.
Cosplay enthusiasts will have the opportunity to show off their work during the Supanova Cosplay Showcase, running in the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday. Blending together elements from our famous Cosplay Competition and Cosplay Dash, entrants are invited to take to the stage, strut their stuff and strike a pose, with the chance to win one five double passes to the Supanova event of your choice next year!
Online pre-registration for the Cosplay Showcase has closed, but there will be a limited number of reserve spaces to sign-up in person on the day. Whether you’ve been working on something awesome over the last 12 months, or simply have an old favourite you’d like to wow us with, make Cosplay HQ your first stop at Supanova to join in the fun.
Cosplayers can also have their costumes immortalised with a photograph taken by our Resident Cosplay Photographer Steamkittens! Known for his stunning portraiture and dedication to the community, you can find examples of his work here.
Learn the tricks of the trade
Discover the trade secrets and special materials used to create authentic-looking but harmless stunt weapons and fantasy props used in your favourite action films with NIDA prop maker Hannah Crosby!
An expert NIDA-trained prop maker, Hannah worked in the weapons department on both Thor: Ragnarok and Aquaman. Watch Hannah deliver a live moulding and casting demo that will empower you to create your own weapons and props at home to complement your cosplay, at 10:30am on Sunday on the Imagineers and Gaming Stage!

Awesome activities for the kids
It’s fun for the whole family, this weekend, with all new Supa-Activities added just for kids!
Heroes-in-training are invited to unleash their creativity as part of our Kids’ Colouring-In Gallery, featuring artwork by Supanova alumnus Dean Rankine. Simply download and print the image, break out the crayons, colouring pencils and markers (or digital tools, if you’re feeling adventurous!), and get to work!
Meanwhile, kids rule the catwalk at our Kids’ Costume Parade! No registrations, no performances, no pressure; all younglings need to do is turn up to the Imagineer’s stage just before 12:30pm, and show off their outfit! Every child will receive a certificate of participation – perfect for their next show-and-tell day at school.
Remember, all children aged 12 and under receive free admission with a paying adult, so what better way to spend the weekend with the kids than at Supanova!
Setting the scene for Local Screen
Shining a light on some of the country’s best emerging and established actors and filmmakers, Supanova’s Australian Film Showcase is also set to make its return in Brisbane.
One of Australia’s biggest fantasy series, The Bureau of Magical Things will have a presence at the event following the recent premiere of its second season, with lead cast Mia Milnes, Elizabeth Cullen and Julian Cullen, joined by director Martha Goddard for a panel.
Fresh off the back of sci-fi blockbuster Occupation: Rainfall, writer and director Luke Sparke will take to the Supanova stage to discuss the action-packed film, with some exciting new film productions to be revealed live on stage!
With season one of acclaimed teen mystery drama Dive Club, which was filmed in North Queensland, heading to Netflix at the end of November, series creator and showrunner Steve Jaggi, director Hayley McFarlane and lead writer Georgia Harrison will share insights into the hit show.
And finally, for those looking to get their foot in the door of Australia’s burgeoning screen scene, the state’s peak screen body, Screen Queensland, will be hosting a panel with content directors Lucy Markovich and Citt Williams sharing tips on how to break into the industry.
This is just a taste of the awesome offerings you’ll find at the Brisbane Exhibition & Convention Centre, this weekend.
