Comic book writers and artists are a core component of every Supanova, and this year’s Sydney (19–21 June 2026) and Perth (27–28 June 2026) events are set to be graced by an Endgame level of local and international talent. On the international side of things, we’ve got some of the best artists working in the comic book industry today.

After his successful Sydnova debut in 2024, Artgerm, a.k.a. Stanley Lau, will be making his grand return to Sydney Showground. Born in Hong Kong and acclaimed for his visually striking and detailed art style, Artgerm’s work has graced the covers of comic books published by Marvel, DC and countless other publishers. Somehow though, he manages to balance being a highly sought-after artist with being an educator and businessman, serving as co-founder of Imaginary Friends Studios, a concept art, comics and digital illustration studio, which also offers a diploma course in Digital Design & Illustration.
Making his Supanova debut is acclaimed American artist, Kevin Maguire, who’ll be visiting both Sydney and Perth. Maguire is a veteran artist who has been working in the comic book industry for forty years. During that time, he has drawn just about every major Marvel or DC character you can think of, having worked on titles such as Justice League International, Howard the Duck, Batman Confidential, The Adventures of Captain America, Man of Steel, Guardians of the Galaxy, Supergirl, Deadpool, World’s Finest, Spider-Man: The Short Halloween, I Can’t Believe it’s Not the Justice League and X-Men Forever.
Another first-timer who’ll be making his debut in Sydney and Perth is Singaporean-born artist Derrick Chew. Sometimes known as DCWJ, Derrick is a renowned comic book cover artist who has worked for Marvel, DC, Image and Boom! Studios among others, creating stunning variant covers for many iconic characters. He has also provided artwork for countless other companies in the entertainment industry, such as Wizards of the Coast, League of Legends, Square Enix and many more. He has also previously worked at Artgerm’s Imaginary Friends Studios.
Another Singaporean joining us for the first time is Sydney-exclusive guest Edison Neo. Edison has worked on several series for IDW, including Godzilla, TMNT, Operation Iron Coffin and TMNT x Naruto. He has also worked on Hello Darkness from Boom! Studios and is the creator of the martial arts comic book series, Snake Claws.

Next up we have Canadian comic book artist and writer, Ken Steacy, who we’ll be fortunate enough to have at both Sydney and Perth. Ken has been working in the industry since 1974, first gaining recognition for his work on Now Comics’ Astro Boy series in the late ‘80s, which was based on the original 1960s Astro Boy anime. In addition to working on countless series for numerous publishers, and collaborating with the likes of Margaret Atwood and Harlon Ellison, Ken has also taught a Comics & Graphic Novels course, and helped fundraise for ‘Desert Bus for Hope’, which aims to improve the lives of hospitalised children.
Hailing from Tokyo and making his Supanova debut as a Sydney exclusive is cover artist Eric Chen, also known as WeijiC. Chen’s unique style focuses on a mix of traditional materials – such as watercolours – with digital mediums, and has graced the covers of countless American comic books. He has worked extensively for publishers such as Boom! Studios, IDW and Udon Entertainment, most notably creating covers for the likes of Vampirella and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Rounding out our international comic book guests who’ll be visiting both Sydney and Perth, we have another first-timer, David Angelo Roman. David is an artist known for his work on the Rick and Morty comic book series from Oni Press, but has also created art for properties such as Star Wars, The Walking Dead and Steven Universe.
Heading up our final few Sydney exclusives, we have Singaporean artist Kelvin Chan, making his Supanova debut. Kelvin has worked extensively in the entertainment industry for more than twenty years, creating comic book covers, storyboards and concept art. He is also an accomplished statue designer and co-founder of the collectable statue company, Kinetiquettes, which produces high-quality statues of pop-culture’s most dynamic characters. Kelvin has also recently launched his own creator-own comic book series, Crystal Blue, which is based on Singapore’s national icon, the Merlion, a mythical lion/fish hybrid.
Returning after his Sydnova debut in 2025, we’d like to welcome back Malaysian artist Lipwei Chang. Chang is the co-creator of X-Venture Unexplained, a comic books series published by Malaysian publisher, Kadokawa Gempak Starz. He has also worked for American publishers such as Image, Dynamite and Boom! Studios, providing covers and interior art for series such as ThunderCats, The Me You Love in the Dark, Do a Powerbomb, and Something is Killing the Children.
Joining Lipwei Chang, we have another Malaysian artist who’ll be making his Supanova debut in Sydney, Shi Min. With a penchant for capturing striking figures, Shi Min has created many commissioned covers, prints and other artworks for collectors. His work takes influence from a mixture of western and eastern styles, giving your favourite Marvel characters a manga-inspired flourish. He is also the co-creator of two comic book series – Animal Woman and Prototype Glitch.
Finally, rounding out our guest list of international comic book creators, we have Kendrick Lim, a.k.a. Kunkka. Another first-timer, Kunkka is the co-founder of Singapore-based concept art studio, Imaginary Friends Studios. Founded by Kunkka, Kai Lim and fellow Sydnova 2026 guest, Artgerm in 2005, Kunkka also serves as IFS’ Senior Art Director. He is also a member of Artgerm Collectables and has worked for clients such as Valve, Capcom and Square Enix. On the comic book front, Kunkka is known for a wide range of stunning covers produced for Marvel, DC, Dynamite, Titan and others, working on iconic series such as G.I. Joe, Red Sonja and DC’s Absolute Universe range.
All of these wonderful artists will be available for autographs and friendly chats across each weekend, and some will also be selling their work, taking commissions and taking part in panels. The team from Grail Hunters Australia will also be on-deck in Sydney for all your grading and CGC needs!
