UPDATE 17/10/24: Due to unexpected changes in his production schedule, Christopher Eccleston will unfortunately no longer be able to make his one-day appearance on Sunday at Supanova #100 in Brisbane. The headline and excerpt of this article has been edited to reflect this change.
With only fifty days to go until Supanova Comic Con & Gaming’s landmark 100th event, the latest celebrity guest additions for our penultimate and centennial shows have just been revealed. Featuring a New York Times bestseller, a fan-favourite voice actress, as well as the Last of the Time Lords himself in a one-day-only appearance, there’s never been a better time to join in the fandom festivities ramping up for Adelaide (November 2-3) and Brisbane (November 8-10)!
After taking Melbnova by storm in 2022, Doctor Who’s Christopher Eccleston will make the trip through time and space once more to celebrate Supanova’s milestone event! Championing the series’ revival after sixteen years off the air (the 1996 TV movie notwithstanding), Eccleston became the face of the sci-fi classic for a new generation of Whovians who can now greet him in person exclusively on Sunday in Brisbane.
Meanwhile, the X-Men’s Southern Belle, Lenore Zann, is set to make her Supa-Star debut, soaring into both South Australia and the Sunshine State. Marvel fans will recognise Zann as the iconic voice of fan-favourite mutant Rogue in the ‘90s X-Men animated series, a role she reprised earlier this year in the Emmy Award-nominated X-Men ’97, now streaming on Disney+.
Appearing alongside previously announced Supa-Star Martin Kove of Cobra Kai fame, fans can also look forward to meeting his son and co-star Jesse Kove, who recently appeared in the hit Karate Kid sequel series opposite a younger version of his father’s character, John Kreese!
Literary lovers will not want to miss New York Times bestselling author Matthew Reilly, leading the authorial announcements for November. Perhaps best known for his Scarecrow and Jack West novels, Reilly recently penned and directed the Netflix film Interceptor, and now looks forward to touring the graphic novel adaptation of his blockbuster novel, Hover Car Racer, out October 29.
Also set to join the literary line-up is actor-turned-author Luke Arnold. Known to readers for his Fetch Philips urban fantasy series, fans will recognise him from his onscreen depiction of John Silver in the popular pirate drama, Black Sails.
Comic collectors will be more than spoiled for choice in November, with returning local legends including Mark Raats (Star Wars, The Creator), Alex Trpcevski (The Phantom), Anthony Christou (Luminous Ages), and Darren Koziol (Dark Oz Publishing). Appearing exclusively in Brisbane, fans can also catch David Yardin (Edge of Spider-Verse), Jon Sommariva (Neverlanders), Jamie Johnson (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Sorab Del Rio and Don Ticchio (Silver Fox Comics), Duncan Cunningham (Killer Comics), as well as prolific cover artist Mike Krome.
These Supa-Stars will attend alongside previously announced guests Anthony Daniels (C-3PO in Star Wars), Adam Savage (MythBusters, Adam Savage’s Tested), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and more. Admission tickets to the Adelaide and Brisbane events are on sale now via Moshtix. Most Supa-Stars will be scheduled to appear on Saturday and Sunday only in Brisbane.
