About Guest
Owen is an Adelaide-based writer and artist whose comics have been published in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In 2024, he received the Comic Arts Awards of Australia’s Silver Ledger for his comic Sun, Sand & Self-Doubt, while his comic anthology Bleak Tales was shortlisted. He is also a recipient of the Bill Mitchell Memorial Award and has twice participated in the Comic Art Workshop.
Owen has appeared at major literary and comics events such as OzComic-Con, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival in Indonesia, National Young Writers’ Festival in Newcastle, and Emerging Writers’ Festival in Adelaide.
He has been called “one of those unsung heroes of Australian comics” by Dean Rankine (Simpsons Comics, Death Metal Emo Elves) and “one of my favourite cartoonists” by Caanan Grall (Giant Days: Extra Credit, Max Overacts, Celadore).
Owen is also founder of Amplified Press, a micropublisher with a focus on amplifying diverse local comics voices, particularly those of South Australian creators.
