Michel Mulipola is a Sāmoan army knife of pop culture – a Disney Animation Story Artist, comic book artist, professional wrestler and professional gamer – based in South Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
As an artist, Michel has illustrated the acclaimed Headlocked graphic novels, BOOM! Studios’ WWE comics, Marvel trading cards and numerous educational and cultural resources including co-creating the first-ever Sāmoan language comic – O Le Aiga Sāmoa.
He is currently working as a Story Artist for an upcoming project for Disney+ set for release in 2024.
As a professional wrestler, Michel aka Liger – the Smashmouth Sāmoan – has been a NZ Heavyweight Champion and multiple time NZ Tag Team Champion with one of those reigns being with pro wrestling legend, King Haku aka Meng. Michel also featured as a wrestler and wrestling consultant on the film, The Legend of Baron To’a starring Tongan Australian star of Young Rock, Uli Latukefu.
As a gamer, he was a member of the HP Omen Squad and a Logitech ambassador. He also placed in the Top 10% of Tekken 7 players at EVO2022 in Las Vegas. As well as the Disney Animation Studios work, Michel is also working with a major AAA gaming studio on an as-yet unannounced video game project.
Animation, comic books, pro wrestling and video games – all the things geeks dream about as a kid, Michel has done it ALL and all at the same time.
