Jodie Whittaker played the Thirteenth incarnation of The Doctor on Doctor Who from 2017 to 2022. The first woman to lead the series in the title role, she debuted in the story “Twice Upon a Time,” assuming the mantle from prior actor Peter Capaldi. Alongside supporting cast members Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole and John Bishop, Whittaker played the role through three series and three specials to very positive reviews and media fanfare, departing in the October 2022 special “The Power of the Doctor”.

Whittaker’s career in film, television, radio and theatre includes Attack the Block, The Kid, One Day, Venus, Hello Carter, Good Vibrations, Perrier’s Bounty, the Oscar-nominated short film Wish 143, Accused, The Night Watch, Black Mirror, The Assets, Trust Me, and Emotional Fusebox and its feature-length version Adult Life Skills, which earned her nominations in the Best Actress category at the British Independent Film Awards and the National Film Awards. She also became well known to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic for her portrayal of Beth Latimer in Broadchurch, created by Chris Chibnall and also starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman.

Most recently, she starred alongside Bella Ramsey in the second season of BBC One’s Time.
