Widely regarded as one of the most gifted actors of his generation, Elijah Wood continues to challenge his craft with boundary-pushing roles that span an extensive array of different styles and genres across film, television, video games and animation.
With a career spanning 30 years, Wood has continuously evolved his body of work with notable films including Charlie Kaufman’s Academy Award winning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sin City, The Faculty, the Damien Chazelle penned Grand Piano, Celeste and Jesse Forever opposite Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg, Green Street Hooligans, Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger opposite Taylour Paige, Peter Dinklage, and Kevin Bacon, and Netflix’s I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, which won the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. He appeared in Longlegs director Osgood Perkins’ film The Monkey for Black Bear and Neon.
Most recently, Wood can be seen in Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets as Christina Ricci’s love interest, Citizen Detective Walter Tattersall. He also also recently appeared in Boots Riley’s Amazon series I’m A Virgo and the AppleTV+ comedy series The Afterparty opposite Sam Richardson, Tiffany Haddish, and Zoe Chao. Other TV credits include leading the FX comedy series Wilfred and BBC’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
Wood recently wrapped production on Bookworm, a family adventure-comedy directed by Ant Timpson. The film follows 12-year-old Mildred’s life as it’s turned upside down when her mother lands in hospital and estranged, American magician father, Strawn Wise (Wood), comes to look after her.
Most notably, Wood starred as the beloved hobbit Frodo Baggins in the iconic trilogy of films The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and directed by Peter Jackson.
Wood also has extensive experience in voice over work, having lent his voice to notable films such as George Miller’s Happy Feet and the Tim Burton-produced animated feature 9. Additional projects include the television series Over The Garden Wall and Star Wars: Resistance.
