David Wenham is a popular Australian actor best known for playing the role of Faramir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and more recently he has been seen in the Netflix series Iron Fist and as the dangerous Harold Meachum.
Wenham started his acting career after graduating from Theatre Nepean at the University of Western Sydney in 1987. He gained notoriety in films like Simone de Beauvoir’s Babies and The Boys, though it was his role of Diver Dan in the hit series Seachange that catapulted him into the public eye. He continued to work on many and varied roles including the hilarious Spit in the comedy Gettin’ Square, Carl in Van Helsing, and a memorable turn as Audrey in Moulin Rouge.
David also bulked up impressively for the Frank Miller adaptation 300, and its video game spin off 300: March to Glory.
Most recently he played the role of the stoic and unflinching Scarfield in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Wenham recently started exploring the realm of directing; his first feature film Ellipsis screening as a part of the Sydney Film Festival. Ellipsis stars Emily Barclay – a Supanova alumni – Benedict Samuel! (who has also appeared in Gotham and in The Walking Dead).
