A sci-fi party for the big kids will be arriving in Sydney this June! With Vivid capturing the imaginations of patrons every year, a new sci-fi experience will hit town just in time for this year’s festival and Supanova Comic Con & Gaming Sydney.
Supanova is teaming up with Vivid Sydney to present Jurassic Lounge: 2099, an after-hours futuristic party experience that is fit for anyone ready to hit the 22nd century.
The event is set to take place at the iconic Australian Museum on June 16 from 7pm after Supanova, with a scientific atmosphere and a wealth of mind-blowing experiences for any hardcore nerd.
Australian Museum Director and CEO Kim McKay AO is excited for what the project has to offer Sydney-siders stating that “it’s an opportunity to understand about the challenges facing our planet this century and to spend a Saturday night exploring Australia’s first museum in a futuristic way”.
Guests will be treated to a silent disco where two DJs will battle out their futuristic tunes for your allegiance. Spinning some of the space age hits will be Melbourne-based DJ Mz Rizk, creating the atmosphere for the ultra-futuristic playground.
Attendees are also prompted to get their creativity flowing with regular Sculptures By The Sea artist Jane Gillings. The experience aims to explore how we can conserve and recycle our plastic waste effectively for the future, like upcycling our plastic into wearable items. Other experiences such as the Interactive Wormhole Journey will take guests on a journey through time and space. Who knows where one will end up?
There is no shortage of virtual reality experiences, sci-fi storytelling, and giant dance lessons at the event, and it’s the perfect way to discover the Australian Museum. Sci-fi fans will be geeking out over the atmospheric ambience, which includes thousands of scientific specimens and artifacts housed at the Australian Museum, as part of their permanent galleries.
An array of good food and drinks, live music, and futuristic fun is also guaranteed. With a futuristic best-dressed competition on the cards and the opportunity to meet new fellow futurist friends, this is not an event to be missed.
