Suit up for the Superman Friends and Villains Cosplay Competition at Supanova!
Whether you’re repping the Man of Steel himself, his fearless partner Lois Lane, or stepping into the shoes of his iconic allies, enemies, colleagues or Kryptonian kin — this is your chance to bring the world of Superman to life!
From Daily Planet staffers to supervillains like Lex Luthor, and even Justice League legends with close ties to Superman, we welcome creative takes from across his orbit. While DC characters are welcome, the spotlight will be on those rooted in the Superman universe.
All entrants will receive a ticket to see the new Superman film, in cinemas July 10, and each city’s lucky winner will score a Double Pass to an exclusive red carpet premiere in Sydney or Perth!
Here’s a quick rundown on what’s involved.
- The Superman Cosplay Competition will run on Sunday afternoon just before our main Cosplay Competition!
- While team-ups with your fellow Kryptonians are permitted, remember that the top prize is a Double Pass to an exclusive red carpet premiere of Superman in either Sydney or Perth, so heroes and villains may prefer to enter the competition solo on this occasion.
- While cosplayers from here to Krypton can enter, please ensure that you will be able to attend the red carpet premiere in the city you’re participating in, as the Double Pass prizes are non-transferable.
- All costumes are permitted as long as you are representing Superman, or DC characters within his orbit.
- Pre-registration via the form bellow is encouraged, as spots may fill up faster than a speeding bullet.
- Limited reserve spots will be available for on-the-day sign-ups (read on for more info!).

Registration Deadlines
Pre-registration for Sydney will close at 5pm AEST on Thursday, 19 June 2025 with Perth pre-registrations closing at 5pm AWST on Thursday, 26 June 2025, but may close sooner if the contest is filled to capacity. Please note that once the pre-registration form closes, no further entries will be accepted online, and you will need to visit Cosplay HQ before 12:00pm on the day in order to add your name to the reserve list.

- What do I need to do before the competition?

You will be told when and where to go when you check in. Please listen carefully and follow all instructions provided to you at Cosplay HQ. - What costumes can I wear?
Anything Superman that complies with our Cosplay Guidelines is acceptable. - Do I have to have made my costume?
Cosplayers of all experience levels are welcome in the Superman Cosplay Competition! Whether you made it from scratch or purchased it, sometimes it’s all about your Kryptonian presence, as exemplified by 2025’s Superman, David Corenswet, and his predecessors. - Can I wear something I’ve worn before?
You certainly can, all costumes are welcome even those that have been used before! - What about props and/or weapons?
As long as your props comply with our Weapons Policy, you won’t run into any issues. If you have any concerns, we recommend swinging by Weapons Check on the day! - Can I do a performance?
In an effort to allow as many Men of Steel as possible to participate in the competition, skits and performances will not be permitted on the day; however you can still show off your flair and do your best Superman impressions on stage! - What if my costume is busted on the day?
Supanova has a Cosplay Repair Station which can be found at Cosplay HQ. Our skilled team is able to assess and repair your costume, give you quality advice, and get you out and ready for your photo shoots and onto the stage for the competition.
