This past weekend Disney wheeled out a veritable treasure trove of new trailers, first-look reveals and other goodies for its latest D23 Expo. Covering everything from Disney Studios’ latest live-action adaptations of their animated classics, through to the future releases currently being planned by Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, fans were treated to some of the most exciting pop pulture news from arguably the biggest franchises on the planet.
Let’s take a look at some of the biggest reveals to come out of the event…
Disney Studios
The National Treasure spin-off series National Treasure: Edge of History dropped a new trailer introducing the show’s new characters and showcasing the return of Harvey Keitel and Justin Bartha.
A brand-new teaser trailer for the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid was released over the course of the event, showcasing Halle Bailey’s Ariel.
A new trailer for the latest Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians shows the newest onscreen iteration of the popular novels by Rick Riordan. A release date has not yet been confirmed.
The title for the upcoming prequel to the live-action The Lion King was announced. Titled Mufasa, the film is due for a 2024 release.

A new poster was released for the live-action Peter Pan adaptation, Peter and Wendy, set to hit Disney+ in 2023.

Tim Allen is ready to hang up his Santa hat in a new trailer for The Santa Clauses, a new miniseries that follows on from the popular Christmas films. The show hits Disney+ on November 16.
The Sanderson Sisters are back in Hocus Pocus 2 this Halloween. A new trailer dropped ahead of the Disney+ premiere on September 30.
15 years after Enchanted, Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are set to return in Disenchanted. A new trailer dropped ahead of the film’s streaming release on November 24.
Pixar
Pixar has announced the return of Amy Poehler in a sequel to the acclaimed Inside Out, due for release in 2024.

Lucasfilm
Due for release on Disney+ next week, the Rogue One prequel series Andor starring Diego Luna got a new trailer.
Six brand-new animated shorts set in the Star Wars prequel era will hit Disney+ on October 26. Following the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi also released a new teaser trailer.
Din Djarin and Grogu are back together, and season 3 of The Mandalorian promises more adventures for everyone’s favourite lone wolf and cub. The series is currently slated to arrive on Disney+ in 2023.
Christian Slater has joined the cast of the upcoming Willow TV series. Set to begin streaming on November 30, a new trailer showcases the return to the magical world of Andowyne.
Marvel
Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury in a brand-new trailer for the Secret Invasion series set to launch in 2023.
In a big departure from their typical fare, Marvel also released the trailer for its Werewolf By Night series which has been conceived as a black-and-white retro horror story.
Marvel confirmed that the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four movie would be helmed by Director Matt Shakman (Wandavision), hitting cinemas in 2024.

Marvel also announced the official line-up of the Thunderbolts movie. The team of anti-heroes will consist of David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Sebastian Stan (James “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster) and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova). It will also be led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
