From a background of representative rugby & commercial crayfishing, at the age of 22 yrs Bruce discovered the world of contemporary dance & took a major sidestep. Within 1yr he had become a full time professional dancer joining companies in both Aotearoa NZ & Australia. At a point when he was living in Sydney & discussing work with Sydney Dance Company Bruce was invited to return to Aotearoa to join the renowned Limbs Dance Company. Three years later upon becoming a father at the age of 30 Bruce left the dance world when he was asked to play the role of Diesel in Australasias first professional production of WestSide Story in 30 yrs, at Auckland’s Mercury Theatre. Thus began his acting career.

Since then Bruce has acted alongside the likes of Ryan Gosling, Christopher Meloni, Gina Torres & others in a variety of character roles. Shows have included Hercules, Xena, Young Hercules, Cleopatra 2525, Power Rangers.

At the end of filming Lord Of The Rings Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh presented Bruce with one of only 100 books that they had published & they wrote in his book “Thankyou for stepping into the breach & helping us create a role we didn’t even know we needed, Gamling has grown to become an integral part of the world of the Rohirrim and you played him with great heart.”

After travelling to Hollywood on a few occasions Bruce chose to remain in Auckland to pursue his greatest role as a dad to his 3 children & now Poppa to his 4 grandchildren, however he loves the opportunity to connect with the wonderful world & people at these conventions.
