About Guest
Wellington-based actor Shane Rangi is one of New Zealand’s leading motion capture and stunt performers. He has been working as a core member of Weta Digital for over 20 years, and was the primary performer for its initial Avatar pitch.
He is perhaps best known for his various motion capture and creature performances as General Otmin, Asterius, and Tavros in Andrew Adamson’s award winning The Chronicles of Narnia films, and the White Witch-King of Angmar and The Harad Leader in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has two SAG nominations for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble.
Shane has also featured in Taika Waititi’s Time Bandits, Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines and in the Australian feature film Pacific Rim: Uprising, with roles in Thor: Ragnarok, Avatar: The Way of Water & Fire and Ash, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. He plays the lead role in short film Die Like a Shark for which he won “Best Actor” at the Wairoa Māori Film Festival.
