Confirmed Guests Spike Spencer Doesn’t Watch Anything He’s In

No Guest Found in this category

At Supanova in Melbourne, Supa-Star Spike Spencer treated fans to stories and trivia about Neon Genesis Evangelion, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, League of Legends and more. Here are just some highlights from his panel to keep you giggling.

Do you ever watch your work?

“I don’t watch anything I’m in. Actually, Amanda Win Lee and I did a watch party for the new Netflix dub. Some of you guys might have watched it. We had the Eva OG watch party, and since they didn’t end with Fly Me To The Moon, we did – with kazoos [and] finished that off and had an hour of Q&A.”

Who would you cast as Shinji in a live-action Neon Genesis?

“By the time it gets made, if it EVER gets made – we’ve been talking about this for 25 years – there’ll be a whole new spade of actors that we don’t even know. So right now, whatever zygote is coming up, that’s the one.”

What made you decide to release a book?

“I’d been selling [my] book for over a decade, maybe 12 years or so, and I did it as a CD/audio book because I’m a voice actor. Duh. But the problem is: technology has changed. They’re not making computers with CD players anymore. So, I was like, ‘I guess I gotta go old school and do an actual book.’ I was trying to find a way to do like a little card, because I need something that I can sign at conventions and give to somebody. I was hoping for a 3×5 thing with a USB port, but I hear they’re gonna take the USB ports out as well. Screw you, technology!”

How have conventions changed over the years?

“When I first came to Melbourne, the first Supanova I did back in 2008, there was no Facebook. There were no iPhones. We all got to know each other really well. I consider some of them family. We still keep in touch. They come into town and we all go out.”
