Cosplay is a major component of any convention, and it’s exciting to see what the people of Australia come up with each time at Supanova.
The cosplay community is growing larger every day with more patrons being inspired by their heroes and other cosplayers to do the same. Whether you are a seasoned cosplayer or just starting out, here are a few Australian cosplayers to follow to get inspired.
Infamous by Laura
Many people know her as cosplaying Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad film, but recently Laura has branched out into other cosplays, including different versions of Harley Quinn, Pirate Catwoman and a Captain Marvel cosplay – the latter of which is still in development. Laura will be appearing at Sydney Supanova with her Clubbing Dress Harley Quinn cosplay and her own interpretation of a Punk Harley Quinn!
Type 40
Another cosplayer that isn’t a stranger to the prop building game is Allan from the team at Type 40. Not only are his props incredibly accurate with an impressive attention to detail, but his cosplays are just as fantastic. With previous cosplays from Fallout 4 and The Call Of Cthulhu, Allan will be returning as Captain America for Sydney Supanova.
Miss Dani Cosplay
For your favourite DC power females, Miss Dani is the one to follow. With her previous cosplays including Mera and Poison Ivy, the intricate details in her costumes are some to be inspired by. Miss Dani will be at Sydney Supanova cosplaying as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.
Cosplay Chris
Well known in the cosplay industry, Cosplay Chris is famous for not only his cosplays but his amazing skills as a prop builder. His recent cosplays include Captain Boomerang from Suicide Squad and Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Captain America. Chris will be at Sydney Supanova cosplaying as both Pirate Batman and Captain Nomad.
CupKaate
With her beautiful locks of red, cosplayer CupKaate is no stranger to fantastical cosplays. Some favourites include Heather Duke from Heathers, Angelica from Hamilton, Jared Leto’s Joker, Merida from Brave and Scar from The Lion King. Kate will be at Sydney Supanova cosplaying as both Velma Kelly from Chicago and Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove.
Sam Gironda
Is it a bird? is it a plane? It’s Sam Gironda! Most famous for his Superman cosplay, Sam also has the 11th Doctor and Troy Bolton under his belt. He is keen to start a Captain America cosplay soon, however, will be returning to the Man of Steel just in time for Sydney Supanova.
Twerkin Gherkin
Queensland-based cosplayer Twerkin Gherkin has such a wide range of cosplay styles including some incredible musical theatre inspired pieces. From Glinda the Good Witch to Christine Daaè from The Phantom Of The Opera, TG is bringing the theatre nerds to the convention season. Her upcoming project is a Betty Boop cosplay at Brisbane Supanova and you can expect to see much more of her over the coming year!
Little Loki Cosplay
When it comes to mischief none can look past Loki! Little Loki Cosplay is a seasoned Loki cosplayer, in his various film versions, and works with the team at Type 40 often, recently in their cosplay from The Call Of Cthulhu. You can expect to see Little Loki Cosplay at Sydney Supanova cosplaying Loki from Thor: The Dark World.
BombshellxBarbie
Another cosplayer representing the theatre nerds at conventions is BombshellxBarbie. With previous cosplays like Elphaba and Heather Chandler, as well as Wonder Woman, she is definitely one to watch at her next convention.
Princess Portkey Cosplay
With a wealth of cosplays under her belt, Princess Portkey Cosplay has a unique versatility and creativeness in her cosplays. Including Disney Princesses, Harry Potter and comic book characters, there are no boundaries to her cosplays. Princess Portkey Cosplay will be returning to her Ariel, Kim Possible and Supergirl cosplays for Sydney Supanova.
