Nicola grew up in Sydney, Australia, on an unhealthy diet of 70s American TV where her fetish for people in shiny outfits with amazing powers germinated. And, coming from an artistic family, there was rarely a time when she didn’t have a pencil or paint brush in her hand and was always encouraged to use them.
After a couple of mini careers modelling, acting and costume designing, she moved into the comic book industry, as a penciller, in 2001 with work for Australian publisher, Phosphorescent Comics. She then spent a couple of years living in New York City chasing the dream.
Since 2004, Nicola has worked for Dark Horse, Top Cow, Image, IDW and currently under an exclusive contract with DC Comics. She’s wrapped up a successful near two year stint on “Birds of Prey” followed by “Secret Six” with writer Gail Simone and also got a chance to draw one of her dream characters, Wonder Woman, in the Blackest Night: Wonder Woman mini-series.
More recently, she has illustrated issues of the Wonder Woman book, Superman (DC New 52) and is presently working on the Earth 2 (JSA) (DC New 52) title with writer Tom Taylor.
Nicola looks forward to meeting all her fans at Supanova and will be appearing on Friday in Sydney (2pm to 6pm), and throughout each Saturday (10.30am to 5.30pm) and Sunday (11am to 5pm) in both cities. Please see the event guide for times and locations.
