Born on a snowy Valentines’ Day in the romantic city of Montréal, Mark Lutz went on to travel the world and become a popular actor and world-champion swimmer. He grew up in Canada and Hong Kong, and completed a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in political science. His swimming career was highlighted by setting Canadian National records, Ontario High School records and swimming internationally for his country, including World Cups and the Olympic Trials. A shoulder injury saw Mark turn away from swimming to focus on his acting, which was lucky for fans of Joss Whedon’s series ‘Angel’, because Mark soon starred in a run of episodes as “The Groosalugg”. This handsome “half human, half demon” Sir Lancelot type was a romantic interest for Cordelia and rival for Angel, but he nobly relinquished Cordelia’s love when the time came. Mark Lutz says of his character, “He’s got such a dichotomy to him where he’s all brave and noble on one hand, and so naive and brainwashed on the other. I know a lot of the fans say, ‘Oh, he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer,’ but I think there’s more to him than that.” Andy Hallett, who played Lorne in the series, called the studly Groosalugg “Fabio and Keanu Reeves’ love child.”
Come along to Supanova in Sydney and Perth to meet the hot Groosalugg’s smart and funny alter-ego MARK LUTZ and find out about his experiences on ‘Angel’ and myriad other shows including ‘The Ghost Whisperer‘, ‘ER‘, ‘Friends‘, and ‘La Femme Nikita‘.
Mark looks forward to seeing all his fans at both the Sydney and Perth shows and will be appearing each Saturday 10.30am to 5.30pm and each Sunday 11am to 5pm for autograph* and photo* sessions, with one general public access Q&A daily per expo.
