Supanova is proud to be kicking off the Australian leg of the World Cyber Games, the World’s largest gaming competition presented by Samsung, as it hits Sydney this month. The battle begins June 19th at Supanova in Sydney and will see seven of Australia’s best gamers flown to the international finals in LA from 30th September to October 3rd. Prize money in LA will be in the six-figure range, so the stakes are high and open to anyone keen to try their hand at global domination at this rapidly growing international Olympics, with nearly one million competitors.
This year’s tournament will not only be an opportunity for serious gamers to show off their cyber skills, it also offers an opportunity for Supanova’s more casual aficionados to check out the latest in cyber and video games and lifestyle technology from Samsung.
Players will compete in:-
- FIFA Soccer: (prize- trip to WCG Grand Final)
- Asphalt 5 (prize- trip to WCG Grand Final)
Especially timely with the World Cup, the hunt with be on for the best interactive soccer player. Also an exciting new addition this year is the mobile phone game Asphalt 5, where the fastest player will also secure a plane ticket to LA to compete in the Grand Finals.
Post-Supanova the next event will be the WCG National Counterstrike Final on July 24th & 25th at the Beyond Internet and Game Cyber Café, George St Sydney. Players will compete in Counterstrike 1.6 with the tournament deciding the national champion team. 5 players will be flown to the WCG Grand Final in LA making up the team of 7 to represent Australia.
