Eric Roberts (Melbourne and Brisbane)
Eric Roberts was born in Mississippi, but his family moved to a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, when he was a toddler. At the tender age of five, Eric began performing in local stage productions. In his late teens, he travelled to London to undertake a summer session at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After completing the course, Roberts moved to New York City, where he landed a role on the long-running TV soap opera 'Another World'. Two years later, he broke into feature films with a starring role in 'King of the Gypsies' (1978), receiving a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. Eric appeared in a swag of films over the next few years, including 'Raggedy Man' (1981) opposite Sissy Spacek, and as true-life villain Paul Snider, who murdered his wife, Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratton, in 'Star 80' (1983). Eric received another Golden Globe nomination and much critical acclaim for his sinister performance. After a decade of movie roles, Eric returned to the small screen in 1995 with a guest appearance on 'The Drew Carey Show'. He enjoyed the experience so much that he accepted guest roles on other shows such as 'Frasier', 'Oz', 'Touched By An Angel' and 'Law & Order: SVU'. Unexpectedly, he also scored the role of "The Master" in the 1996 telemovie based on long-running British sci-fi favourite, 'Doctor Who'. Parallel to his small-screen roles, Eric continued to appear in handpicked independent features.
When Eric was offered a regular role on the sitcom 'Less Than Perfect' in 2002, he was delighted to accept. His TV stardom continues with a recurring guest role (as a shady leader of 'The Company', Mr Thompson) on the hit superhero series 'Heroes'. In 2008, Eric joined the cast of 'Batman: The Dark Knight' as Gotham gangster Sal Marone, so we at Supanova are excited to welcome our first guest from the reinvigorated Nolan-era Batman franchise!
Eric lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Eliza Roberts, and their respective children. Eric's daughter Emma is an up-and-coming actress herself, appearing as the eponymous girl sleuth in 'Nancy Drew', and in the mermaid flick 'Aquamarine'. In his spare time, Roberts enjoys horseback riding.
