Further information on Bruce’s panels will be listed in our Event Programme, released closer to the convention.
Bruce has been making comics for almost 30 years. His major graphic novels are The Sacrifice (Allen & Unwin, 2008), The Silence (Allen & Unwin, 2009, in French as Le Silence), A Mind of Love (Black House, 2010), The Bunker (Image Comics, 2003), and two collections of short stories: Stripshow (Milk Shadow Books, 2012) and Post Traumatic (Fabliaux, 2017).
He also has had short stories in Overland, Meanjin, The Australian Book Review and Tango among others.
Bruce completed a Master of Design by research at Monash University entitled Words Into Pictures (2014), producing An Anzac Myth, a comic created expressly to be encountered in a gallery space, not in print, i.e. a comic you walk through. He is now doing a PhD at Edith Cowan University furthering this research with a project called The Erotics Of Comics.
Lots of new comics soon to come!
Bruce has presented academic papers, given comic workshops and artists talks at RMIT, University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of South Australia, Oxford University, Loughborough University, Comics Forum, Leeds, CONFIA, University of Dundee among others. He also appears regularly on panels and gives workshops at other festivals such as Toronto Comic Art Festival, Lakes International Comic Art Festival, Thought Bubble, Comic Gong, Melbourne Writers Festival and the Homecooked Comics Festival.
Bruce is editor and publisher of the Ledger Annual that accompanies the Ledger Awards each year. Bruce is also co-organizer of the Perth Comic Art Festival, which is held annually in February. He also regularly schemes to present Australian comics at overseas festivals under the Caravan of Comics banner.
