Lena Headey is a British actress who is best known for her appearances in The Brothers Grimm,  The Remains of the Day, Zack Snyder’s 300 and the HBO hit series Game of Thrones.

She was born and raised in Bermuda, where her father, a Yorkshire police cadet, was sent shortly before her birth. Back in England, she was brought up in Yorkshire before moving to London in her teens. At the age of 17, Headey’s performance in a one-off show in the company of six school friends caught the attention of a casting agent, who took a photo and asked her to audition. Eventually, Headey was cast in Waterland, which became her big-screen debut.  During her film career, spanning over 15 years, Headey has shown her range in a variety of roles, playing characters from Amazon-type warriors and action-minded women in The Cave and The Brothers Grimm, to a lesbian florist in Imagine Me & You .

Headey’s film career has taken her all over the world. She was in India for the filming of The Jungle Book, then in St. Petersburg, Russia, for filming Onegin, and in Norway for filming of Aberdeen.  During 2006 Headey worked in Canada for the filming of the Zack Snyder Spartan epic “300” based on the Frank miller Graphic Novel. She played the role of Queen Gorgo,  a character she returns to soon in the sequel “300 – Rise of an Empire“.

In 2012, she appeared in the 3D action science-fiction film Dredd alongside Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby. Her character was Madeline Madrigal (Ma-Ma), the leader of a drug dealing gang, and the project’s primary villain.

In addition to her film-work, Heady appeared as Sarah Connor in the criminally short-lived TV spin-off of the popular “Terminator” film franchise, the FOX’s series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles“.  Since 2011, she has been appearing as the morally ambiguous, yet beautiful, Cersei Lannister in HBO’s incredible Smash-Hit television series Game of Thrones.

Outside of her acting profession, Headey takes boxing lessons in London. She is a vegetarian and also remains loyal to yoga, which she discovered during her work in India. She has never been back to her birthplace in Bermuda; she shares her time between her homes in London, England, and Los Angeles, California.
