Jed Brophy (born 1963) is a film actor from New Zealand. He has appeared in several of Peter Jackson’s films, including Braindead, Heavenly Creatures and King Kong. However he is best known for his work in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings.
In The Fellowship of the Ring he played one of the Nazgûl, He played Orcs Sharku and Snaga in The Two Towers. He then played Bolingúl (Orc Captain of Mordor) in The Return of the King. His son Sadwyn Brophy played Eldarion in The Return of the King. He, like many of his New Zealand brethren, has also appeared in the Long running soap opera Shortland Street.
In 2009 he appeared in Neil Bloemkamp’s critically applauded Sci-Fi film District 9.
Most recently Jed has returned to Middle Earth when he was cast for the part of the Dwarf Nori in The Hobbit trilogy.
