Dean O’Gorman is a photographer and artist based in New Zealand. He got his start in the television movie, The Rogue Stallion at the age of fourteen, and Raider of the South Seas, both of which were released in 1990. He then won the role of Nurse Harry Martin in the New Zealand soap opera, Shortland Street and has appeared in both Hercules and Xena multiple times, as well as a regular role as young Iolaus in Young Hercules, co-starring Ryan Gosling. He also played the part of Luke Morgan in the dramaseries ‘McLeod’s Daughters‘.

More recently, he has made multiple guest appearances on shows such as, The Cult, Go Girls and Legend of the Seeker and currently plays the role of Anders Johnson on The Almighty Johnsons. In April 2011 he was cast as Fili the Dwarf in Sir Peter Jackson’s three-part film adaptation of The Hobbit. Kili and his Brother Fili are the youngest dwarves of the 13 and are Thorin Oakenshield’s nephews!

Art has always been a part of Dean’s life. His father, Lance O’Gorman, is a long established and respected New Zealand landscape painter. Dean is widely recognized for his portraiture and constructed images of The Vietnam War and more recently The First World War as a way of exploring ideas of masculinity and the vulnerability of youth.

Dean’s portraits have appeared in many magazines and publications and he has exhibited at the prestigious Page Blackie Gallery in Wellington.

Dean looks forward to meeting all his fans at both the Brisbane and Adelaide expos in 2013. There are signing* and photo* sessions throughout Saturday and Sunday (10.30am to 5.30pm excluding breaks) and there’s a general admission Q&A during each weekend.
